Comment:
Took this class with Cheng hoping he'd have gotten better since the last review in 2012. Cheng fails to make the class engaging, and doesn't have a decent knowledge of the course material. This course and it's semester-long project has done nothing to make me a better software engineer. I learned more through a project I did in high school.

Comment:
This wireless sensor networks class should be taught in a better way, and use a better material. Prof. Cheng's lecture is very poor -- neither the essential of the wsn nor well prepared. First six lectures are simply useless. His guest lectures did great teaching. Rest of the class are project presentations, again and again, to waste time.

Really boring. you can get more when you read the textbook. Exams are very very hard, and nothing to do with the course subject/homework. Avoid if you can.

The class started out really bad, but he after the midsemester survey he improved the class significantly. He is interested in helping students, but his class just rehashes the textbook.

before i bash the cheng-bot, i should say that mid-semester he did make a concerted effort to ask the class his shortcomings and fix them. that said, he is not a good teacher and relegates all grading to the ta.

Teaches just from the slides prepared and doesn't explain anything in enough detail. His exams test on insane amounts of detail that A) isn't taught and B) isn't found in the book.

Unclear slides. Very hard tests that don't relate to the lecture at all. Homework questions are extremely unclear. Grade very hard. Stay away from him!!!!!!!!!!!

Boring class, all powerpoint which can be downloaded. Not a very effective professor. He is young and needs alot more time to learn how to teach.
