You will be spending 5+ hours a week doing homework for this class! But it will be worth it if this is your first time experiencing accounting at all. Prof Hancock is very knowledgeable and always made class interesting with all his life stories. Homework is worth a lot, as long as you do it and do decent on the exams youll end up with an A.

Very knowledgable, lectures are very information heavy but I rarely paid attention. HW was about 40% of the grade but took about 2 hrs a week. Tests were pretty difficult and hard to study for because he didn't have practice tests. Barely got an A. He had a 2% curve (88-100 A, etc.) which was very helpful. Overall good professor.

John Hancock is an OK professor. Shows respect to students but does not do much teaching during lectures. Be prepared to learn on your own (2-3hrs per day). Workload is heavy.

Hancock was a terrific professor. Very engaging in class so I highly recommend attending lecture. There was a lot of homework but it was very helpful in enhancing understanding of the material so if you actually care about accounting, you shouldn't care about the homework load. Tests had some annoying terminology questions unrelated to most content

MGT 11A IS TEXT BOOK HEAVY. If you don't read the text book, then your midterm scores goes down the drain. He lectures with powerpoints and needs to be asked after class if he could release the pp to us. There's a lot of homework. Too much homework if you ask me but the homework is what kept my grade at 88% when my midterm test was 80 and 66%.

Comment:
The Tests are weighted too heavily individually. The first two (midterms) are separate (non accumulative) However the final is on all the chapters. Does not explain well what the test is going to be over. Homework assignments do not help with tests. Poor class overall. You could learn a lot and do poorly.

GOAT proffesor at Davis. Dresses like a guy who just showed up to the bahamas for vacation, lots of Hawaiian shirts, gotta love it. Just study for the tests by doing the practice quizzes from the book and you will get an A. Going to miss the steady hand of Hancock guiding me through accounting.

Prof. Hancock is a great professor. He is very kind and funny. His grading criteria is clear and concise. That being said he does give a a lot of tedious homework but dont worry they help you understand the material and are 45% of your grade. He curved for 11a but not 11b but do the hw and you should get least a B.

I had him for both 11A & B. He s an ok professor, but not the best at explaining in my opinion. Grades heavily on hw, which can be about 45% of your overall grade. 2 midterms and cumulative final. Midterm questions are based on online practice quizzes, and final questions taken from midterm. Guaranteed "b-b+" if you do ok on tests.

Prof Hancock is super kind + comes to class smiling. He does a great job at making the material understandable during lecture. Really takes the time to answer questions. Lots of (simple) hmwk that gets very tedious, but you get 45% for doing it. Exams are easy, much of the questions come from the practice quizzes. Has review before exams, def go!

He doesn't teach so get ready to learn on ur own. He was cool until he changed up the weighting scale after the final. I needed a 73% on the final to get an A in the class according to the grading scale he had been using all quarter so I didn't care too much to study for it. But after the final, he changed the weight and I ended up with a B+ .

Comment:
Hancock spent the entire quarter using an incorrect weighting scale on canvas, misleading me into believing I had an 87 going into the final when I actually had a 77. He seems like a nice guy, but at the end of the day he doesnt really care about his students too much and is willing to screw a lot of people over just because he made a mistake.

Honestly, this class was tough. If you understand the material, then not necessary to go to class because most of the time he posts slides online. Discussion isn't mandatory. Tip for tests: study the practice quizzes and the LS hw. SO much homework-- but at least it is worth a lot of the grade. You'll need to learn the material mostly on your own.

He's well versed in the content and does a decent job of explaining concepts when you are confused. However, this class is basically a learn on your at home. The material isn't too difficult, but the workload is ridiculous (2-4hrs per night). 30 page readings w 60 multiple choice are due every 2 days along with lengthy hw due after those readings.

He's a good professor. However, his lecture are not that great. It's mostly learning from the homeworks that he assigns. Tests are mostly practice problems from discussion sets and practice online quizzes, and the grading scale is heavier on the homework than the exams. Overall, he's a really fair professor and willing to help you as much as he can

It is essentially the same class as MGT 11A with different concepts. A lot of online homework, 2 midterms, and a final. Most of the questions are from discussion and the practice quizzes. The curve is good!

A lot of people taking this class thought it was super hard or super easy. I thought it was somewhere in the middle. Scored average on the first midterm and final, but completely bombed the second midterm. Hw is worth 40% of the grade and there is a nice curve so I was still able to finish with a B+. Barely showed up to lecture.
