I love love love Profesor Hayes and would take this class a million times over. He speaks Spanish from day 1 and really cares about his students. The bow tie takes it over the top.

I have no idea how anyone could enjoy his class. Its like he feeds off of peoples sadness. He didnt explain anything and assigns a ton of homework! He embarrassed me multiple times in front of the whole class because I cant speak Spanish. I thank god everyday I never have to deal with him again. Never take his class! Save yourself!

He is the worst professor ever! He assigns an insane amount of homework and teaches nothing on the homework! He somehow rambles for hours and provides no information! DONT TAKE THIS CLASS!!! I cant believe I wasted money on a guy like this! He is also very rude and wont answer any questions you ask him!

You will never be good enough. He has absolutely no regard for your well-being. You will be *INTRODUCED* to things that will suddenly be the majority of the test the next day. This man has taught for 41 years. He has greatly lost touch with how to teach effectively. He expects you to already know everything he's covering. Save yourself.

come to class, build your notebook and keep it organized as you write out each exercise. Do all chances for extra credit, you will need it to up your test scores. He gives enough daily work which is graded only by completion note accuracy, that as long as you do your work its an easy A. Plus he is a very nice and funny guy. must do daily work

I have varying feelings about this teacher. While he does know his Spanish, I don't feel like I learned much from this class besides vocab. Attendance is mandetory for the most part (he will start taking points off your grade if you miss too many classes) and the book is used. Would definitely recommend studying. Okay teacher.

first off, If you are looking for an easy A, DO NOT take this class. J. Hays is very entertaining and explains each lesson very well. however he moves at a very quick pace and you will be lost if you skip class. you must be dedicated to study because the tests are very hard, but the class its self is quite fun.

Spends class time to flaunt his own opinions on everything from religion to science to politics. Religiously harassing and chauvinistic. He insulted another TJC professor in front of the entire class. His tests are poorly written and hard to study for. I am not looking forward to two more semesters with him. He literally haunts my nightmares!

Absolutely the most arrogant man I've ever met in my life! I grew up in the valley and have spoken Spanish my entire life and only made a B in this class. He will reprimand you for using any dialect other than Venezuelan Spanish and even criticized me because I write in cursive. He's a terrible teacher and gets off on watching a student struggle.

After taking all four levels w/ Senor Hays, I can definitely say it never gets any easier. He's an okay guy but expects WAY too much. I came into this knowing that it wouldn't be easy, but it's almost overwhelming.

He's all over the place. Unclear, and uses what he calls 'reverse psychology' to teach, which I find amusing because it's a foreign language class. His style of teaching is irritating and ineffective. I might hate Spanish after this.

He knows Spanish very well but his class is very very time consuming and instructions for assignments are not always clear. He is not the most tactful person either. If you have to have Spanish for your degree, good luck. But if not, DO NOT take it as an elective!

This man is the rudest most inconsiderate man I have ever met. He treats all students as they are incoming freshmen, even though it was very obvious some of us were grown adults with full time jobs. He has no respect for anyone but himself. I had 3 years of Spanish before him and he completley lost me. TJC couldn't pay me to take this man again.

Very good teacher, however, don't expect to make a good grade merely b/c you show up to class, it take true dedication! It's definitely worth the pain, and yes learning a different language/culture is painful.

I really enjoyed his class and his teaching style. He is definitely more hands on than any other spanish teacher I've had. You can't slide through this class, it takes effort, after all it is a foreign language. The key to success is to listen and memorize EVERYTHING he goes over, it will show up on his tests.

Taking this class is like accidentally committing slow and painful suicide. He knows what he is talking about, but he will not teach it well. I had 3 years of Spanish prior to his class so I understood mostly, but I would never recommend his class to anyone no matter their experience in the course. He is arrogant and rude and loves to ramble.
