He looks like Richard Simmons. He details what you have to do in order to get a good grade in the class on day one. If you take notes on the slides and at least skim the book (not really necessary) you'll do fine. I never went to class except for tests and passed with a B+. Put in the work, and you'll get the grade. It's not that hard.

Hovancik is the worst prof. in this department. For my class he didn't tell us when the MIDTERM was until classes before. He says a lot of inappropriate things for shock value and to make you pay attention. He talks a lot and doesn't really say what you need to know. There is a huge curve because everyone fails. You'll pass but struggle in SR sem.

Definitely not an easy class. NO one shows up to class, and he's so monotone it's super easy to fall asleep if you do attend. Only a midterm, final, and research credits for your grade, and the average grade for the tests hovers around a 55. But really, google AP Psych tests, and you'll tests with questions that match his.

Honestly I dont understand why he has such a low rating. The book is super easy to read, he curves all of the grades, 12 full points are added onto your final grade when you do the super easy psych studies. There is a midterm, final and the psych studies. You dont even have to go to class to pass. Just read the book and his slides and you're golden.

I am basically paying for this class to teach myself from the textbook because his lecture are a complete drag and he is so beyond monotoned. He puts the power points online so you don't even have to go to class. There's about 80 kids in the class and 9 people went to the lecture. The class is based on 3 grades so you better teach yourself well.

PLEASE DO NOT TAKE!!! He only gives a final and a midterm. No one shows up for his class (maybe about 15 out of 70). The powerpoints are POINTLESS. If you take this class you basically dont have to show up, just read the textbook.

HONESTLY, the worst teacher I have ever had. You pretty much have to teach yourself cause all he does is stand there and lecture in his stupid monotone voice and somehow manages to relate all his lessons to himself. He puts all the notes online so it gives you no motivation to even show up to class and he doesn't take attendance. DO NOT TAKE.

I got a pretty good grade in the class, but it was all from self-learning. He is very monotone in his lectures and his notes do not even show up on the test. Just teach yourself and you will be fine. He curves A LOT. A person with a 20 on the exam can easily get a C in the class.

Prepare to teach yourself. No one goes to class, I showed up for the midterm and final. His class is super boring and none of his notes or his class lectures are on his 2 exams. Just learn all the vocab and you'll be fine. I ha flashcards and thats all I used.

Don't screw around with his class. For intro he gives a midterm and a final, both covering about nine chapters of psychology each. Really boring lectures but if youre willing to teach yourself psych then you dont have to show up. Have to say, the guy is straightforward. Good class to get a grade, not really if you want to learn.

He has a lot of experience in the field but is not a good professor. If you really want to learn something about the subject take someone else. There's only a midterm and final and he curves them like crazy because they're impossible to pass otherwise. He's also got the most monotonous voice ever, avoid if possible

I have to say he has lots of experience in the feild. His monotone voice makes people tired. I observed many people leave or never show up. I had 100 people in class only 25 showed up for class. Your grade is based soley on Midterm and FInal. I studed 7 chapters and still guessed on most questions. The curve saved me. He does not know you exist.

Like other have said, very monotonous voice, but knows what he is talking about. Only gives a midterm and final. You're basically on you're on when studying for them. Does not use textbook at all in class, but you definitely need it when studying for the exams. Attendance is not mandatory at all, so no point in even going to class to be honest.
