Ibson is amazing. I've always heard great things so I've known I wanted to take one of his classes for a while, and boy did it surpass my expectations. Listening to him talk (ramble) on and on shed so much light and truly fascinated me. Also has a great sense of humor and super approachable. Take him before he fully retires!

He gives you four books to "read" but you don't really need to read them because he goes over all of the books IN CLASS and give you a good number of questions for the test in advance. The Exams(3 of them) are generally simple because it is open book, note, and anything but internet. Two of the exams are essays that you can write outside of class.

He is not a difficult teacher as long as you READ!!!! The books are pretty interesting and makes discussions in class illuminating. The only thing that sucks is that you have three shots: Midterm, Essay, and Final. There's really no clear cut way to study except for knowing what questions and points he discussed in class. Take him, he's worth it!

He is a great teacher. He is truly intelligent and well versed in american studies. Hes been able to witness the evolving culture around him and uses that to the advantage of the class. His lectures are absolutely brilliant and aims to incorporate the students. He teaches through stories and class discussions and provides excellent feedback.

Great professor! He grades kind of hard on the tests so just make sure you give a lot of detail. Tests are essays, but he gives you the question before hand and you can use notes during the test! There's a lot of reading assigned. If you want an A, you have to read. If you're ok with a B, just pay attention in class!

WOW, probably the best professor I've ever had. He is such a nice guy and loves to teach his students. He knows what he is talking about, he's been doing it for years. I hate reading, but his lectures are so interesting it forced me to read. He is amazing. best teach every!!!!!

Students are encouraged heavily to participate in class and originality on essay exams account for something like a third of the grade. Paying attention in class is a must! Classes are him lecturing with student participation sprinkled in. Don't take this class if you don't like hearing different opinions.

There was a 3 hour gap in my schedule and I needed to fill it up with a course. I looked around online and found two courses that taught the same subject: one had a lot of essays and the other a lot of reading. I took the one with a lot of reading and the course was "hard" by Ibson. No regrets. Loved every moment in that class. Just attend class!

He is a great professor and genuinely cares about his students. If you want to pass, you should always attend class and read all 4 books. Short answer and essay exams. Honestly, if you don't enjoy American Studies or reading then this class will be a bit difficult.

Professor ibson is a good guy, but he does not teach anything we learn in the book, he tries to stir a discussion in you and make you think but doesn't review the book at all or key points, he just rambles on about a bunch of stuff after touching on it for 10 mins. His tests are impossible, I worked my ass off to get C's when I deserved better.

Do not take his class. He must not realize that his students have other classes, jobs, family, and friends to attend to. 100+ pages of reading for one class meeting is RIDICULOUS. Even 50 is pushing it. His lectures are long and boring. He is nice and always offers help, I'll give him that, but otherwise...STAY AWAY.

Prof Ibson's class is different than most on campus. He makes you think and not just memorize. There was one short answer test and two essay style tests. He grades very hard and expects a lot. There are 4 books to read. Dont take this class if you dont like to read/write.

Ibson is a an awesome, clearcut, no BS kind of teacher. He wants you to succeed, but expects you to do a fair share of work to do so. He does have 4 books that you have to at least have a good idea about to do good in his class. Only downside is the books and that he is a little harsh with grading. Other than that, hes awesome!

He was a very helpful teacher, very enthusiastic about his subject. He is very loud and clear, you definetly cant fall asleep in his class. You dont have to even go to class and you can still get a decent grade. There isn't really a way to study for the tests, theyre more opinion based. A little hard of a grader, but not too bad.

Personally, I didnt like his class. 4 books for reading. It is pretty heavy if youre full time student. The midterm is harder than the final, he asks specific questions about the readings and discussions.
