Comment:

Dr. Jeffrey is an amazing CS professor, knowledgeable, professional and clearly cares. While his courses are brutal and tough, they help you grow as a programmer and critical thinker in the theory of computer science. Also very chill, and the worst thing you can do is disappoint him.

If you've done research on the Computer Science department of Elmhurst College, you know it ranks quite highly. Dr. Jeffrey does a great deal to raise that bar. He has an obvious aptitude for computer science and math, and has a plethora of experience to back it up. If you're serious about your studies, this is the man you want as your professor.

Going into this class with no previous programming experience was tough. If you don't do the reading assignments don't expect to understand the lectures. The tests are difficult. Overall he's a nice guy, he gives extend dates on projects when needed, will help you with programming projects, and is always making jokes! Work hard and you will pass.

Dr J^2 is an incredibly dedicated teacher with a passion for cs/math. I would not recommend him if you are not a CS/math major, as his classes are very difficult. But, if you show up to class, read the book, and actively participate, you'll pass with minimal problems. His exams are hard and normally contain all of the info he has taught beforehand.

EXTREMELY HARD for an intro to computer science class. Does not give enough time on exams, nobody in the class was able to finish the second or third exams on time, and those who did told me they basically put in random answers. Projects and homework were ok, because he gives you more than enough time for those, but still extremely frustrating.

Dr. Jeffrey obviously loves to teach. He has a long history of programming and teaches the art of coding, not just the nuts and bolts. He is very helpful in and out of class, and I have had many enlightening conversions with him over the past weeks. He also tells really bad jokes in class, but it works. Take his classes if you really want to learn.

Very Good Teacher, Very helpful. He will even take time out of his schedule to help you with stuff not for the class you are taking with him. He may be somewhat difficult but i highly recommend him if you actually want to learn something.

John Jeffrey is a hottie with a body! He's also, basically, the Chuck Norris of computers. He's a great teacher, you'll learn a lot, but to get a good grade, you have to listen/go to class and read the textbooks. He also loves to take extra time to teach each class (expect to stay at least an extra 10 min. after your class is supposed to end).

Dr. Jeffrey is a cool guy with a funny sense of humor but I would NOT recommend taking him for a gen ed. If you think that all gen eds are blowoffs, then you're in for a rude awakening. It's not THE hardest class I've ever had, but you really need to read the material and not zone out. The tests are easy, though--the answers are on Blackboard.

Dr. J's classes are very difficult, but you will never learn more from any other professor in the CS/CGE department at EC. If you are a CS major, I highly recommend Dr. J, but it is very important that you get it into your head before taking the class that it is challenging. It's not about just writing code it's about efficiency and understanding

I wouldn't recommend taking on Tues./Thurs. because class is 3 hours long. He's a strict grader and his lectures are EXTREMELY boring. If you're trying to get an easy gen ed, this isn't the right class.

He is a nice guy, but this class is a bit on the boring side. If you ask for help he will do what he can, from what I can see. Do not take this class on T/TH because it will be the longest 2 hours and 40 minutes of your life. Note: He is a jazz pianist on the side.

Jeffrey wants to be helpful, he honestly does. But he isn't. His teaching style in unlcear and he depends more on you learning from the book than from his lectures. What he doesn't seem to understand is that those of us without 30 years of experience need to be taught the material at a lower level and not discuss it on the level that he can.

WOW. This class was hard, to say the least. But I think he's very willing to help you understand it if you're willing to ask. My only real problem with him is it can be tricky to meet with him if for whatever reason you can't see him during his office hours.

I found myself not knowing what I was supposed to be learning with each class. Very smart guy, but not very good at "bringing it down" to an understandable level for students. He's very nice, supportive and understanding, but that doesn't matter a whole lot if you don't get the material...

Very, very hard yet a very, very nice man. Knows just about everything. Have patience and a big heart, and you will appreciate him and what you got out of his class. Is quick to compliment and reassure his students. Very helpful, approachable.

this guy teaches you so that you could give bill gates a run for his money. he doesnt realize that most of us are here because its a gen ed. hes helpful on labs, merciless on grading tests/quizes! good luck :(
