I took three courses with Professor Kelly and every one was phenomenal. I had little to no interest in most of these subjects - his specialty was a little too archaic for me - but he never failed to make things interesting to me. He was kind and understanding, but that doesn't mean that he lowered his standards - a tough but important lesson.

John Kelly was a great professor. Mental toughness, academic rigor and logic are all that are required to do well. You think he's tough? Go home and cry to your mom. You're at school to learn and if took that seriously you would come to understand that John Kelly was demanding, fair and could not abide those that simply wanted to float by.

I just want to say that the best thing that has ever happened to WCU was for this man to retire. He was absolutely evil and I don't care how good of a teacher people think he was...putting students down is just not acceptable. He is just plain cruel.

I am 43 years old, a 1983 grad, and still remember this guy. He was ridiculous. He was so tough and didn't help me at all. All I did was stress over his margin requirements and staple placement.

I had him twice for class, documentary and horror film. Awesome guy, comes across as a toughie, but willing to work with you. If you were able to accept criticism, you could learn a lot from him. The school greatly misses him.

bad teacher, he seems all nice and cool, but then WHAM! he gives you a D on your 8 PAGE SINGLE SPACED ESSAYS THAT TAKE 3 HOURS TO WRITE!!! this class isnt worth it, you wont come out of it learning anything except how horrible some professors can be

Dr. Kelly is great, that speech about A's is just to scare you at the beginning of the semester. I am entering the last week of classes with him, and have an A, maybe B+ but still have to give my presentation, so I think I'll get an A. Your learn alot.

This man is a great teacher. Very educated in FLM classes. The trick to getting a good grade. LEARN TO READ & WRITE WITH SOME SKILL. He is tuff but fair. Unfortunately, he is retiring at the end of 2003, WCU is losing a great teacher!
