Comment:
Dr Laudun is not for everyone. His style is very laid back and there isn't really a structured class environment. That said, he is very understanding, always willing to work with you, and very funny. Not tests only papers and he is very laid back about word count. Would take again.

He kind of got on my nerves most of the time, and he focused on subjects/writing techniques that I didn't find useful or interesting at all. However, I'm an English major and I know that English is very subjective, some people in my class loved him. He is a great person, very funny & understanding, I just didn't enjoy the class material at all.

Without a doubt the best English class Ive ever taken. A bit scary at first, but he teaches you how to actually write, not just how to string together an essay. Hes very understanding, knows how to get people engaged, and just makes the entire class and the material interesting. Its the one class I actually looked forward to every MWF.

Very straightforward and simple class. He teaches based on a hands-on approach rather than having you bury your nose in the textbook. He's also incredibly friendly and will gladly have a conversation with you outside of class. Very relaxed and creates an amazing environment that's very conducive to learning.

One of those professors that understands you have more than one class to worry about. He gives plenty of time to do any assignments due and will always ask if you need help or have questions. Do take notes in class though and make sure you read the readings also, which they are interesting. Midterm was on readings and final was a paper.

Mr. Laudun is really cool, I loved his class even though I wasn't really interested in the material. He gives readings but it's not much. The exams are not that difficult if you study a bit beforehand: the usual. If you plan on sitting in class without participating: he likes to tease. I recommend!

Dr. Laudun is HILARIOUS! Folklore is obviously one of his passions and you can tell he enjoys teaching it. I found it hilarious how he came to learn our names and would pick on people late to class among other things. So recommend! Class wasn't mandatory but I always went because he was so enjoyable.

Awesome guy. Lectures a lot and uses Power Point. 3 tests the whole semester and only assigns pop quizzes if the class doesn't pay attention.

He is such a nice guy. Very laid back. He literally would cancel class every single week. He would always push back deadlines if we felt unprepared. The assignments are all online and can be tedious sometimes, but that's why he cancels class often. He gave really good feedback and did a lot of one on one time with everyone.

Great teacher, he truly views you as an equal in any manner. He does not condescend like other professors. With that being said...be prepared to read and write. He expects you to be involved in both processes. If you do the work and actively try and improve upon your writing there is no reason why you should not make an A.

Comes across as a complete...well you know. But once he gets into it, he's a pretty good teacher. Assigns group projects and other activities that make the material more interesting. Very laid back. He seems to enjoy teaching higher level classes, however.

This class was probably one of my favorites from this past semester. Professor kept things interesting throughout the year. He assigned several projects that he did not pick up/grade, so that was a bit frustrating. I feel that my writing has improved thanks to this class. Discussions were probably my favorite part, because we got a different POV.

Yeah, this entire class was in entire waste of my time. He is a very intelligent man, but I am no at all a fan of him. Very unorganized, didn't have class on Fridays, and honestly was in the dark about my grade the entire semseter. He only gave the final to certain people, which is extremely unfair. Didn't enjoy him or his class at all.

I took this class 5 years ago and I still remember how much I hated it. He spent more than half the semester on Heart of Darkness. I rarely went to class, regurgitated what he lectured onto his tests, and made a B. I'm in his Louisiana folklore class this semester, which rocks. Maybe he's just not interested in survey courses. Avoid until JR+ year.

He swears like a sailor, cancels class a lot (this is a MWF course and we've never gone on Fridays), and gets off-topic often. If you're a hard core type A personality, his style will probably drive you insane. BUT if you like conversations, not lectures; if you like a good laugh; if you like taking interesting courses, go for it. I love his class.

A bid disorganized at times, which made some people nervous, but always tried to make up for it. I liked the way he approaches teaching. He really seemed to care that we learned something.

Hardly had class all semester. Don't feel hugely prepared for future papers, but atleast the class was always fun and engaging. I don't think I'm amazing at writing papers, and I got an A. He's pretty funny (called rozencratz an "obsequious turd"). Half the semester is fun fantasy literature

He is a useless teacher, almost made me change my major (which is English) because he gave me horrible feedback on everything. He will pick one little thing in your paper and just talk about that. We had no tests and I didn't even learn anything. He curses more than a sailor and talks about his daughter too much. DO NOT TAKE HIM, FRESHMEN!!

He cancelled half of classes, sometimes not even telling us until that day. Didn't give us ANY grades, saying he was too busy to grade our papers. ( we got NO feedback whatsoever on any papers so when writing my final paper I had no idea what to expect.) He isn't clear with what he wants with assignments at ALL, I hated this class.dont take him!

DON'T TAKE HIM IF YOU WANT TO KEEP YOUR SANITY. Hated EVERY work we read...ALL science fiction or pointless literature. Never kept you informed of grades and gave feedback on work only if you begged for it. If you like to KNOW how you're doing and why you're doing the coursework assigned to you, or if you absolutely hate scifi, DON'T TAKE HIM!
