When I first read the syllabus I was nervous! He lays out all of his expectations and he will try to scare you away in the first class. Show up, do the reading, have well thought out discussions with him and do your paper (make sure your class presentation is engaging). You will learn a ton and get an A. Very intelligent and funny man! Enjoy!

Malarkey's class wasn't really that hard, you show up, leave early, and as long as you do his final paper, you pass the class. There are no test when I took his class.

I took several of his course. He is a teacher who actually inspires learning instead of teaching toward a test. He will not work any harder than his class and will not spoon feed you. He likes to have discussions and you better have read the materials to be able to participate. He likes to play devil's advocate and challenge your thought process.

Doesn't teach much. Instead, he goes off topic and involved class in discussions. Occasionally felt like a waste of time. He's a good guy though, and extremely intelligent. Lots of great insight about the academic world as well as life in general. Class is laid back. He introdudes stimulating ideas that will really get you thinking.

John is tough, very tough, but he is an excellent teacher and you will learn A LOT from him. He doesn't lecture, instead he engages the class in discussions. He will get you to think out of the box. If you need more structure and don't want to work, DO NOT take his courses.

Prof. Malarkey is a guy that you will not forget! He refuses to conform to boring, traditional teaching practices. Instead, he engages his classes in heated discussions. He has a lot of great insight about the world around him and will really make you think! Make no mistake, the guy is wicked smart and knows a little about everything. Great prof.

I had one class, and it made me work my ass off, but I've saved every paper I wrote. I am proud of myself for having to do it, and what I learned through the experience. Also, if you show up to class, be prepared to have something interesting to say, or you're going to sit there and listen to him show you how little you know. Best teacher I've had.

THINK, THINK, THINK is his motto. Dr. Marlarkey pushes you to think rather than spoon feed you information like many newer students expect. If you take a series of classes from this professor, you will be well prepared for grad school. You will learn how to research.

I found the class very interesting and Malarkey has many interesting stories and information to share which made the class. Expect to work hard! He will basically present you with the opportunity to learn and will point the way, especially in how to research a paper or subject, very useful. Is available for any kind of help.

Like everyone else said, he's not very traditional... but in a good way. He's absolutely brilliant and refuses to conform to rigid teaching practices. The course had a decent amount of work, but I still loved him. If you want to get something out of the course, take Malarky
