Great professor. His lectures can get a bit off topic, but he's brilliant, so it's ok.

Class is structured a lot different than normal classes, you read a book every week and have the choice to write 3 papers throughout the class - no textbooks or tests. Good class if you're looking for something more abstract, a lot of reading. One of those common curric classes where the prof expects you to be incredibly interested in the class

Really nice, always helpful. Not too hard a grader, not easy though. I would recommend him if you are interested in one of his classes.

Comment:
Presented well but some of the assigned reading was horrible. Class discussion was important but I often found I had nothing to say or write about the text. As a result, I often found the class boring. No tests and three papers. He's accessible but I find him hard to approach because he has this Harvard air to him that makes you think he's pompous.

If you take one of his classes you want to take another. He takes risks, goes off on tangents, and tries to make you as interested as he is--and some of that interest really rubs off! (surprising, I know) If you are a freshman, take his classes as often as possible. It will definately improve your writing.

One of the chirpiest, most pleasant fellows you're likely to meet. Not strict at all- gives considerable leeway to allow for students to understand the subject matter. Exams involve memorization of terms, little else. Not conservative with A's, either.

He missed a lot of class, but this is apparently unusual. Great lectures on broad interconnected topics, like a history class should be. Fair grading.

This guy is SO interesting. He goes off on tangents about how he hates the Puritans and how stupid the youth of America is. He is really funny, if you get his humor. VERY EASY, EASY TO GET HOLD OF, GREAT GUY
