One of my favourite classes yet. You do negotiation activities every class which gives you the opportunity to practice everything you learn from lectures. There were 2 reflections, a negotiation observation, and a midterm exam. show up to class for the activities, do your studies and work on improving your negotiation skills and it's an easy A

John was an easy prof for an easy class. You do negotiations with a partner each class and write short reflections on your personal negotiation style for marks. You MUST show up to get marks for negotiations but you leave early each class. Midterm is a little tricky so study the book for definitions- pdf is online you can use an old copy.

Comment:

He doesn't return marks but is very fair about giving you additional marks or grading easier because he took too long. He's knowledgable in what he teaches and is a reasonable guy! His classes might be boring sometimes if you just sit and listen but he encourages ongoing conversations so speak up and you'll enjoy it more.

I failed this classes 3x at TRU. But John got me to finish with a B+! He may forget to return marks but will give a 100% if he does forget. I recommend him for people that struggle with math, hes clear, works with xamples, and is pleasant, try not to skip classes if you do struggle as it will put you behind further.

John is an absolute gem of a human and teacher! I hate math more than anything and he made it so clear and made it so easy to understand! Hes super funny too and is genuinely wants everyone to not only pass but get a good mark! 10/10 would recommend taking any class with him!

The material is boring. He is kinda boring too. The class moved slow especially at the start. I showed up to every second class and was fine. He spends most the time doing textbook examples. If you just need the credits and a decent mark he is fine. If youre good at math its easy. If your bad at math its fine, its mostly calculators anyways.

He's actually really good. he's clear with concepts and uses lots and lots of examples to help you out. if you have questions it better to ask him right after class because he's not that quick to respond emails. he's pretty funny too. i highly recommend him for quants. after our mid term he also let us redo our mistakes for partial marks!

Honestly, don't bother if you can get another teacher... He doesn't give any marks back and doesn't respond to emails. Lectures are painful to sit through because he doesn't seem to like his job. Hate to leave a comment like that, but be warned!

Man, best math teacher I've ever had. I hate math with a passion, it just doesn't work in my head, but John really takes the time in class to make sure you understand, I actually understood it! He does lots of practice problems and if you attend every class, you'll ace the course. Tests and assignments are very easy and he is extremely helpful!

I'm really disappointed about my time with John this semester. I've taken his class before and I understand not all teachers provide the same type of learning environment etc... but I didn't expect it to go downhill. We did not use the textbook at all this semester which cost us $150. No marks posted all semester. Doesn't respond to emails/calls.

John is...scattered. He's really nice, ridiculously smart, and always helpful. One tip: go into an upper level elective already knowing excel or the major aspect of the course. He expects you to understand it, even when he explains he doesn't exactly start from scratch. I really liked him, but definitely isn't the most on-the-ball instructor.
