Fair teacher. No surprise questions. You just need to read the book and come to class willing to participate.

I was surprised to end up really liking the teacher and class. Readings very well thought out. Learned a lot more than I thought I would. I didn't always agree with Dr. Morgan's stance, but after he explained his view, it opened up an idea I hadn't thought about. If you are a thinking student and fairly mature, you'll likely get a lot out of class.

Professor rambles. Class consists of reading literary works then him discussing his views on it, followed by a random calling on students to share their views on the work. His discussion generally is repetitive at best. He loses track of what he is saying halfway through a sentence a lot. Exams are over inane, insignificant details from the works.

Easy class. Basically, you're given a short reading assignment for each class, then he calls people at "random" (he often calls some of the same people) to give comments. Grades consist entirely of 4 easy test (things like author and title questions). If you have more than 4 absences you can't get an A.

He is very boring. His syllabus is horrible and I fall asleep often because it is so boring. He is not a very good teacher, his lectures are not organized and he will forget what he is saying and move on to the next topic. Most of the time you don't know what is going on in class. He takes off 1% for each class you don't show up, show up early too

You don't need to buy most of the books since he hands out the assignments. The only thing he asked for this class was that you read the (2-10 page) assignment and showed up for class. Honestly, that's not much to ask. Because nobody ever actually read the assignments it was hard for him to host a discussion on them. He's a great professor.

Making this class a 300-level course is undermines the English department. He cannot teach. The lack of any coherent plan (i.e. syllabus) makes grading this class a joke. He gives no effort in teaching, which means no one shows up or tries. This is the biggest waste of time and money ever. Avoid at all costs.

Extremely boring and frustrating class. Didn't give a syllabus so it was hard to know when tests and assignments were due. He's not nice, one time he spent 10 minutes of class time cussing a student out for falling asleep. I personally couldn't blame the student for falling asleep... it had to have been the most boring class of my college career.

May be a good writer but not a very good teacher. Very unclear about everything and often gets so flustered when asked a question that he gets sidetracked for half an hour. I would not recommend taking a class from him.

Good guy, just can't lecture very well. He is a great writer but a poor communicator. His classes could have easily lasted 15-20 minutes each day if he wasn't such a slow talker.

Not afraid to teach controversial material. Not a terrific lecturer, but a brilliant writer who shares his works in progress with the class...pretty fascinating stuff.

Check out his American Gothic. Oh, and don't confuse "thoughtful" in speech for "slow", just because you've got the attention span of a fruitfly. But if you do, then sure, you might not function really well in his class. I enjoyed it f
