SO hard to understand him when he speaks. HW are 1 pt and exams are 4 pts? You are required to put a lot of work in this class if u want to pass. He doesn't post grades on BB either and if you go ask him what you have, he'll just give u what u got on HW/exams and you have to figure it out yourself. Good Luck.

He means really well and wants his students to learn, but he's not the best teacher. The lecture is useless and it's essentially a study hall. If you study the handouts posted on BB and study the HW questions you will do fine in the class.

You pretty much can not understand anything he says, and are forced to read the book to learn the material. There is really no reason to go to class besides on the days when there are tests (once a week). His lectures are worthless, and he posts no grades online so you have no idea how well you are doing.

I got a B+ in his class and he loved me. The class sucks though and you dont learn anything. What really sucked was you had a test EVERY week and homework alllll the time. his grading scale.... i dont think anyone understood. Homework every week that consisted of about 15 hard problems is worth ONE point... and tests are about 3 points???...

If you're looking to learn anything, don't take the class. He can barely speak English. Though he is a nice man, the class is 2 hours and 45 minutes of straight lecture, with a "quiz" in the beginning based 100% of hw. I used the class as a study hall and brought my other homework to do in it.

Please save yourself a lot of headaches and do NOT take Astronomy of the Stars with this man. He is a nice person, but he is difficult to understand. He gets confused when his students ask him questions. That is not a good sign at all. Just beware is all i'm saying.

People complain about his accent but in reality, you do not need to even hear what he is saying to get a good grade. Study the study guides he hands you & the homework for each week because that's where test &quiz questions come directly from. He literally just copies questions from those 2 things so what he says in class is cool but not on tested

Weekly quizzes come straight from the homework for that week and a multiple choice review study guide he gives you each week so read the study guide and do the homework. I got a 99% in this class and put in maybe a 1/2 hour for the homework and a 1/2 hour of studying each week.

John is a genuinely nice man, but he should not be a teacher. He doesn't speak English very well and is deaf to the point that if anyone asks a question in class he always asks them to speak up and never hears them correctly, so they don't get their question answered. Tests are hard. A fair amount of math. I love astronomy, and HATED this class.

Such a funny guy. His accent isn't so bad that you can't understand him, but asking him questions can be frustrating because it can take a while to get him to understand what you mean. Even so, take his class just to watch him because he is so funny. And for the chocolate he brings in. Um... Chocolate... (Anyone remember what brand that stuff was?)

Muscutariu is a funny, little Romanian man (It's Romania-- NOT Russia) and he's HILARIOUS. He says so many quirky things, and yes, it's hard to understand him, but he is the easiest grader, and he makes the subject interesting. The guy who said he should go back to his country needs to learn what respect is.

Adorable little man... he brings chocolate too!!!! It's very easy to get a good grade in this class... Simply go to class, do the sky observation assignments, and write in cursive on the quizes so he can't read them. Another hint... double space your homework assignments, he'll give you extra credit if it looks longer!

This guy is positively adorable. The first class you have with him, you will have NO idea what he is saying. This is normal. Be patient, and you will find you are able to figure it out pretty easily as time goes by. Ask him to repeat stuff, he won't care. *Very* nice guy, easy grader, can be very entertaining. Quite a character. He knew someone with the same last name as me, and would tell me so every time he called the roll. Salt of the earth, this guy is.
