Comment:
dr. new is sorta arrogant, telling me how to pronouce axon....cmon. his final asked very broad questions, like explain the mechanisms of sound, and there were like 12 questions like that. its sorta hard to answer those questions in a paragraph. other than that, just too much useless info. doesnt allow recording lectures, too much info!

I want to be Dr. New when I grow up! He is so intelligent and well spoken. This is the second class I have had with him and I still love him! Yes his classes are challenging, but you will learn if you go to class and read. There is much to be learned from this man, and he is so willing to help anyone who comes to his office. Highly recommended!!

Challenging but rewarding course. I didn't read the book except when specified in class and got an A. DO NOT miss lectures and study your notes over and over... He takes attendance and visits during his office hours into consideration when deciding your final grade. Tests are hard so study accordingly.

I thought Dr. New was fairly easy...His lectures were interesting and his tests really were not hard at all... I pulled a B+ without doing a lot of work. Just go to class everyday, take good notes, and read the book over once and you'll be fine.

He is soooo smart and if you go to class, pay attention, and read, you will be too. His lectures are always interesting, and you will strengthen your vocabulary by listening to all his descriptions. Tests are pretty hard, but that's just how biology goes.

bio 102 students think he's hard b/c they don't even know how to really study yet! Dr. New rocks, his lectures are clear, but you have to write down almost every word. He likes when you show initiative by going to see him in office hours, he notices if you skip class a lot and will dock your grade at the end. He even says this in the syllabus.

This guy was extremely hard. I busted my but and I only managed to get a D. I never had this problem with Duffie. It`s like Dr. New wanted to not pass me. His tests are very hard, and there`s no way to make them or the points up, since he didn`t give homework like Dr Duffie. Avoid Dr. New if you can!

Great lectures. His jokes actually make the class laugh which is the first i've ever seen from a college prof. Demands a lot of study time but the way he presents the material really helps to learn

I love Biology and I got an A last semester, but his class was so hard. I almost did not pass. He is a good lecturer but not a good teacher. His tests are nearly impossible, try to get a better teacher.

Dr. New lectures well, but his tests are *very* hard, & he doesn't seem to have time 4 students. *Know* the material he presents in lecture & you're all good: he applies lecture material to practical situations on tests. Also, memorize little tidbits that seem unimportant & know their applications.

Strictly based on the notes. You need to make sure they make sense to you and be able to phrase answers in his words. Difficult class simply because he is a good lecturer but not a good teacher. Note taking is just a race each class..and he hates tape recorders...hmmmm

I wish he taught more classes. The entire biology trac is a weeding out process and he just happens to be a good gardener. Very intelligent and expects the same of his students. You must be willing to put in effort. If you don't do well in his classes maybe that is because you don't belong there.

He is an excellent lecturer and his exams are primarily from his notes. His exams are essay and he expects a hight level of detail. Hard grader. However he does put practice exams in the library to help. I defintely learned a lot.

cant agree more with "must do well on the first exam." he is positively positive but his tests are hard and different. But if you can clearly differentiate between him as a person and his style of teaching, you will notice that the difference after all is differentiably welcome. I jumped from F->B-.

He is very articulate and smart. Never heard him use a filler word once. Is a very good lecturer. Exams can be hard. Make sure you visit him in his office hours before the exam. Take very good notes. The tests are based on them. Test grading technique is a little sketchy. Must do good on first exam!
