Comment:
Interesting class. Will actually make you think about your actions. Lectures are simple and clear. Way too much work for a 1 credit class though. And, it is all busy work. Summarizing part of a book, summarizing his notes, and writing reflections for each every week. Also two take-home tests that are fairly easy but long. Can get A if you try.

Comment:
While it's good that we have someone who has actual industry experience teaching us what it's like to go through product development, Ochs is very serious about the teaching it, almost too seriously sometimes. If you're doing your work and you know your stuff, you'll be fine in this class. Unless he's your advisor, you don't interact with him much.

Comment:
Professor Ochs has A LOT of experience as a professional engineer, and not many students really notice or appreciate having that in a professor. Everyone thinks he's a pretty boring professor but if you take the time to listen to what he says in lectures, you can take a lot value out of those lectures with you.

He is an awesome instructor. I learned a lot from the Intergrated Product Development(ME211/212) Capstone Course (IPD) and Professional Development(ME111) this year. I would highly recommend these two courses to future students.

Prof. Ochs believes he is an amazing and challenging educator. In reality, he is arrogant and unhelpful. He has made IPD into a joke by implementing arbitrary policies that limit the product development process and work to go against the educational goals of the class.

The idea behind the class is good. The way Ochs goes about it is backwards and results in mass amounts of tedious busy work.

"I went over that in lecture, go look at the slides. It's not my job to repeat myself to every individual in the class" (direct quote). 'Nuff said. He takes pride in agitating students, believing he's doing it for our good and that we only get agitated because we don't want to work. Avoid if humanly possible.

Tough class! You will learn a LOT though. It is a huge amount of work. He knows his stuff about a number of areas of business. He definitely has his way of doing things. I could have learned more if there was less work. Better hope you get on a good team!

Can be a bit critical at times. If you do your work you'll have nothing to worry about. Looks a lot like Richard Attenborough.

This guy is good if you play by his rules. He thinks hes right about everything and you have to go with that. Do what he says and play by the IPD rules and you get an A no trouble.

This guy is an absolute joke. He is an arrogant man and does not give a **** about any of his students. Professor Ochs needs to go back to college and learn how to teach.
