Excellent prof! Love the youtube videos and red vs blue vids before class! I thought as an intro to computer programming this is the guy to teach it! Very clear, very helpful, and he asks questions to make sure the class understands the material. If they dont, he will stay on the subject till we do!!

loved the video's he started class with. A much better prof that the others. The class is brutal but make sure you keep going it gets super hard after the mid-term. E-mail him he is never in his office.

I had never programmed before this class and it made me want to take CompE, so I think John did something right there. He's very fast to respond to emails if you get stuck on the difficult homework assignments. The exams are rather hard, but just study the old ones and you'll be fine.

He's a pretty good prof and his notes are quite good. However, his class is extremely boring! If you attend lectures regularly and do the codelab you should be fine. His exams tend to be fairly difficult, especially the final exam.

This class is extremly boring. He repeats the notes in class all the time. You fall asleep in his class. His British Voice makes you want to scream .... worst prof ever.... In the sum of it DO NOT take him as your prof your life will blow up into armegedon or you will commit suicide ... damn no more ****in bullets

Very nice guy, his monotone British narrative voice will become the official voice inside your head when studying! Probably the fastest prof with emails. I thought exams were difficult considering this is a course most people are not too experienced with. Teaches boring EE and computer courses as best as they can be taught.

Decent prof, british accent, good notes as well.buy the course notes pack.rathner helpful. and text book is a sheer waste of money. i had done c++ b4 so it was a piece of cake 4 me but i recommend this prof. his teaching technique is unique and appreciable.better than the other stout prof we had!

EnCmp: In one word: Blech! This guy has the misfortune of teaching quite possibly the most boring subject in the entire university, but he does try. He's a good teacher and he does try to make the material interesting, but there's only so much the guy can do. Just make sure you've had a good night's sleep the night before.

Very approachable and helpful. The material is very boring, but he makes it as interesting as he can. Take advantage of his open office hours. It's very convinient that the Gateway comes out the same day as eng cmp lectures so I have something to read in class.

Brutal, brutal course but this guy made it even worse than it had to be. Going over the notes from the day before for half the class made it unbearable. Don't go to class just read the text book tests are impossible anyway.
