Comment:
Poirier is one of the best management professors. Sometimes degrading toward women, but I'm a girl and I still did fine in the class. Expects you to know when assignments are due, he won't tell you if something is coming up. Reasonable grader. Would recommend over the other management profs for sure.

Professor Poirier is a nice and funny guy, has a ton of real world experience and stories to fill the class with. Sometimes people get offended by his examples, but he uses them to get his point across on sensitive course topics. Can work in groups on case studies, one very easy group project, exams are easy if you study. Book isn't used much.

Comment:
The material was very boring, but Poirier does his best to keep the lectures interesting. The project, reflection papers, and homework are all straight-forward, but the 2 tests are not (ambiguous questions). Fair grader. Make sure you participate in class, it helps your grade and he likes those that participate. Overall would recommend/take again.

He deliberately makes the exams difficult, and expects everyone to do poorly on them. Other than that, the project is a major part of your grade and it isn't that hard. I never opened the textbook. His lectures are long and boring but sometimes we do interesting things in class. He's also a nice guy as far as personality.

Probably one of the best professors at Bryant. I had no interest in human resources before this class and it is now my minor. He lectures, provides the book ppt slides, his ppt slides, 3 short quizzes online and even a pdcast to help you learn the material! There is a presentation, and the exams are split over 2 days (MC and essay). Take!

Really nice guy. Class is mostly just him telling funny stories. The exams aren't too difficult and the project is a pain, but every mgt class has to do that anyways. I'd take him again for an intro level course.

DO NOT TAKE HIM!!!! PLZ AVOID HIM. The class was boring and he does not teach much useful stuff. Class participation grade is very ambiguous. EXAMS ARE EXTREMELY HARD, no way to get an A. Aweful professor who does not provide much help outside of class.

If this class weren't a requirement for my master's program, I would have dropped it. He doesn't connect the materials with what we're doing, chose a HORRIBLE text to use, doesn't give concrete feedback or answers to questions, and lets us out over 2 hours early from class most nights. What is the point of the course?!!

Good professor and funny guy, but the material is just...awful. Not that it's his fault, but who could make this stuff good? Pretty clear about grades but participation grade is ambiguous and the tests are extremely hard to get an A on. Definitely take him, no doubt about that. Cool guy and pretty nice, even if he does "hate people."

Professor Poirier is great. He's knowledgeable, funny and crystal clear in his lectures. However, be warned that his syllabus composes of a 150 pt participation grade - which is the tied for the largest grade. I deserved an A but instead got a B because of this. Rather annoying.

He's one of the only good management professors. His class isn't too boring and he has a lot of funny stories. He teaches the material and the tests aren't too bad. Would take again in a heart beat.

Poirier is a straight forward professor. Do what's on the syllabus at the beginning of class, it's all there. His offensive/borderline comments help keep a 75 minute class going. I didn't take a multiple choice exam in HRD we had essay. Gives you them a week and a half ahead of time, can write them out and bring them to the exam and rewrite them

Get ready for a LOT of work, many writing assignments and the team project is a killer. Lectures are interesting and exams are fair but I wouldn't recomend taking this class if you have a demanding schedule.

He is an ****, no doubt about it BUT HE IS FAIR!!! He goes according to schedule, like exactly like it. The subject matter is horrible but that isn't his fault. His humor is dry but doable. I'd take him again
