3 exams (exam 1, midterm, final). There's also a research paper (8-10 pg) If you ANY questions about the paper, GO SEE HIM AT HIS OFFICE, HE WILL HELP YOU!!! He likes when the students participate, if no one does, he will call randomly. 2 books which involves class discussion. There's a lot of notes to be taken but it is worth.

3 exams, participation and a paper, all weighted equally. The course is organized thematically. I took this for core and loved it. His exams are just short responses on terms he gives us ahead of time. He is an awesome lecturer. Very kind and helpful in office hours. I definitely recommend him for any course.

I had to take this class for CORE and I wouldn't take it again. We had three tests on a list of terms and a paper that he didn't explain what he wanted from us at all. I don't recommend taking this class.

He's a great lecturer and a truly wonderful human being. His depth of knoweledge is truly amazing. He seems to know every aspect of american history inside out. However, there is simply not enough time given on tests. You can know all the information and still get a B from running out a time. His test measure how fast you write, not how much u no.

Do you like bowties? Then this is the class for you! Karamanski's a really nice guy, so his personality won't get in the way of class. Laid back teaching style, and a not-so-typical hist. focus, so you're bound to learn something.

SUPER personable, nice, funny guy who really knows his stuff. Doesn't take attendance but notices if you're showing up, and will reward you in participation. A semi-tough grader: 4 quizzes and a 10 page paper. Not much work and super interesting!

This class is an absolute must-take. Karamanski is one of the most excellent professors I've ever had. He uses videos, pictures, guest lecturers as well as his own vast knowledge to help you understand the Vietnam War. I can't go on enough about him, one of the few classes where I never wanted to miss a lecture.

Dr. Karamanski is not to be missed. He scatters hundreds of tidbits of knowledge into his lectures and often takes mutliple tacks at the subject at hand. I find myself thinking, "I didn't know that" or "I didn't think of that" more times in his classes than in any others. His wit is subtle and his intelligence is abundant. Enjoy.

Enjoyable class; I'm taking him again. I agree with the statement about the girls, but i think that's just because they were so dumb in my class, he tried to encourage them by not telling them flat out how stupid they were. Well organized lectures--full circle kind of style. Funny at times, and tests are alright. Overall, I'd recommend.

This is probably one of Loyola's finest instructors. The class was very interesting with only a mid-term and a final but there is a 15 page paper for this class as well. It is true that his test ran a bit harder then you might think but if you know ahead of time you should still pull a good grade

His tests are so impossible. He asks about the dumbest minor things that there is no way you could possibly get over a 90 (and if you get a 90% you have no life because you must have memorized every single word that came out of his mouth)

Dr. Karamanski knows his subject well and is very enthusiastic. Rather than focusing on rote date memorization, his class is more like a story focused on themes...how history SHOULD be taught. I learned a lot and enjoyed his lectures. Highly recommend.
