Dr. Rickert does not do notes... You are always a day behind in the class since there is no notes. When you go to do your homework you don't have a clue how to do it. That's when you go over the homework in class but then you start falling behind because this process keeps repeating. One if the smartest guys I've ever met which makes him not caring

He's a good dude, but very hard exams. I only took him for Calc 1, but his exams were nothing like the homework he gave.

Comment:

Man, I feel bad only giving Rickert a 2. He's such a nice guy, and is genuinely interested in math. The positives end there, though. First, his handwriting is god awful and he writes at speeds of up to Mach 10. He also isn't that great at organizing his work, which makes it hard to pick out what's important and what isn't. He gives hard exams too.

Hated this class. He's incredibly smart, but can't relay the information to the class. The work load is insane, and he does a flipped class. So we had to watch a video instead of in-class lectures AND do the homework out of class, then go to class and take a quiz and do in-class work for a grade. Grading is weird too. Tests are incredibly hard.

Dr. Rickert is one of the most brilliant men I have had the chance to meet. Series and sequences were a little rough because he tends to pick problems where there seems to be a trick to solve it, but for the rest of the year he was an amazing professor. Tests are killer, but he sets grade ranges based on performance

Dr Rickert is AMAZING in lectures. He explains everything so clearly and makes everything so understandable. He's probably the smartest prof in the math department. If you want to really learn something, pick him. But his tests are sooooo hard that makes him definitely not a easy credit professor.

He's an interesting guy to say the least. I would highly advise that you stay the heck away from him for the lower level mathematics as he is far too smart to be teaching them. His tests are insane, so be prepared to do poorly; thankfully, he grades with a heavy curve. Every day is a battle, but it can leave you feeling good if you make it through.

Dr. Rickert has been the best professor I have had here at Rose. He is very good with explaining things and making concepts clear. He does use a reverse style classroom, but it is extremely well executed. Anytime I find a class that I am taking that he is teaching, I am going for it.

Dr. Rickert definitely loves mathematics. He is one of the smartest profs at Rose by far, but that makes him more difficult. He expects a lot from you. You have daily worksheets and quizzes that you can work on in a group. He does not teach in class, you watch videos he makes before class. You have 4 tests, but he curves the grades for all of them.

Really hard i have never had trouble in a class but with him i don't understand a thing. He may be smart but he doesn't know how to translate his lectures down to a level all people can understand. If you are a visual learner be warned.

He is a great prof. He will even tell you that he enjoys mathematics, so if he goes too fast, just ask him to slow down. I was very happy having had him as a teacher. He has an impressive way of explaining things to you if you are willing to show him you tried it. Go to him for help, and definitely show up for class. There is typically a daily quiz

His problems are hard, but you WILL understand the subject after you take his class. He taught by putting up a video, which was the lesson, and then the next day you go over questions on the homework and the video, so you can correct your homework and learn questions, and then sometimes you have a simple quiz on the video. Take notes on the video!

Rickert made me feel very dumb and gave me my first and only D in a class. His tests were ridiculously hard and the curve barely helped. If you can take ANY other prof for calculus other math classes, do it.

Comment:

He's really intelligent. Because of this, he can breeze through material, so you have to really pay attention. He teaches in a sort of reverse-classroom style, where you watch videos he makes, and class is spent going over any homework questions you have. Last 10 mins are reserved for a worksheet with 2 problems you have to do before leaving class.

Dr. Rickert is a brilliant mathematician and professor. He is extremely smart and could fly through the material, but he is wise enough to teach at the perfect pace and frequently stop for us to ask questions. GO TO HIS OFFICE! He really guides you through the problem-solving process and ensures that you thoroughly understand the material.

Rickert is a genius. He gives minimal homework that you rarely turn in, but it is advised to do them or else you will do poorly on the exams. The exams are tough, but the curve is helpful and tough exams prepare you for the final better.
