Brilliant instructor who has an absolute command of the material. Dr. Ritter is not only knowledgeable, he has an excellent ability to explain complicated concepts in a way that anyone can understand. Very enthusiastic and a great mentor. If you are taking Dr. J's classes to get a BS in GIS, you will be ahead of other graduates from lesser schools.

Dr. Ritter is my all time favorite teacher. This guy knows his stuff. Am yet to meet an instructor with command over the subject like him. His teaching sinks in. Very nice personality. He's an amazing guy and am happy to have met him.

Professor Ritter himself is an awesome guy and an awesome teacher. The class is taught EXTREMELY fast and not much time is left to grasp things in time for the exams. Exams and quizzes are tough and exams are insane. Class averaged a C/D on the 1st exam. Don't know what to say other then read ahead and work your butt off!

Decent professor overall, very helpful. One thing that I don't like is that his notes are already pre-written by hand and he puts them on the overhead. He then goes through them rather quickly with minimal explanation using his laser pointer.

Dr. Ritter is extremely brilliant and knows his material inside-out! You will be challenged in his classes, both conceptually and in the amount of time they require, make no doubt about it. But you will learn and leave his class with applicable, tangible skills that are in high demand. Buckle down, ask questions, and prepare to work! Good stuff!

Nice teacher, however his classes are pretty unorganized. Never know what you're doing from day to day, the field trips were kind of confusing and the take-home exams were pretty tricky. Doesn't grade too harsh, though. Interesting class.

I am just completing the Physics Lab sequence with Dr. Ritter. He is a good teacher who has enthusiasm for what he does and focus on what he knows. Sometimes his first iteration can be a bit confusing, but if you just ask for help he is more than willing. His process for lab turn-in is always the same making this lab straightforward. A great lab.

Physics 217 should be taught by someone who has had experience in Medical Imaging since it is called "Physics for Medical Imaging." Unfortunately, it is taught by John Ritter, who is a professor of natural sciences. I think he mentioned medical imaging once the whole term. Besides the fact that the class had nothing to do with imaging, John's notes

Really nice, funny guy. Good teacher. The field trips were fun. Kind of a heavy workload. Also, it's expected that most people in this class are ENV majors, which is kind of annoying. Ritter is great, though.
