Comment:
Dr. Rose is one of the most personable professors I've had here. He regularly checks to make sure you are following along with labs, is engaging, makes jokes, and is generally very pleasant. He is eager to help when asked. You MUST show up for class. Like... MUST. His assignments are never confusing and he always gives plenty of source material.

Great professor. He has an interesting life and will share with you. It's obvious that he hates exams, but he his forced to give them so he basically gives you the answers. Projects are difficult, but just require a lot of time.

Dr. Rose is easily one of the best professors at USC. His classes present difficult material but he manages to make those classes entertaining and manageable. He clearly tells you his expectations and will do all that he can to help you out. He's a really funny, nice guy that contrasts to your typical professor that hates the world.

Comment:
Dr. Rose was a fun Comp Sci professor and he was more entertainingthan your standard Asian Prof you've probably taken. His lectures were boring and did not relate to the HW or exams all that much but he was interesting enough to go to. The projects suck and are confusing, but if you know the HW and practice exams you will have no problem for exam

Great professor and nice guy. Go to office hours - religiously. That being said, he is meticulous, very intelligent, and may get frustrated if you fail to understand his explanations the first time during office hours. Got the feeling sometimes that he expected you to comprehend convoluted ideas as self-evident when they were anything but.

Comment:
Dr. Rose is a nice man and the class isn't alright. If you go to office hours, he is helpful and gives practice tests nearly identical to the real thing. However, he gives very little partial credit and his project instructions can be blatantly wrong. Follow the OSP2 book and show up to class for pop quizzes (aka your attendance grade).

Wonderful lecturer, even though the material in the class is hard. He really want to students to understand. If you are stuck in programming, you could go to his office hours. His exams have a few curveballs, as long as you understand the practice exams, you should be fine.

The material is hard but he doesn't do much to make it easier. He is nice and very willing to help. The attendance quizzes were rather hard and the tests were really hard. He says everything is the same as the practice test but changes it to where its harder. The final is a beast. There was stuff we didn't learn. Good Luck.

He is very helpful and he makes an otherwise difficult class into a manageable one. If you have problems with the projects, he will help you significantly during his office hours. My only issue was that the final had a few curveballs. Nevertheless, if you study the practice exams, you'll be fine.

Dr. Rose is one of the nicest guys there is. He goes the extra mile to make sure everyone understands the material. He gives you last semesters tests and answers, which are the same as your tests save changed numbers. He brings in donuts and redbull for the final too.

Wonderful professor. Although the class is at 8am he makes it entertaining. He does a great job at explaining the concepts and cares that you learn. Always willing to help you during office hours. Didn't use the text book much, but did use the project book a lot. Great guy.

One of the best CSCE professors at USC. The material is really hard but he can explain it well and he will definitely help you outside of class (on the material or on the projects) if you ask. Exams are easy to study for, he tells you exactly what type of questions will be on it. Main complaint is that it's only offered at 8 AM.

Two words for you, EASY A. This class was a joke and attendance is not mandatory. You just write a couple of papers about nothing and he gives you an A no matter what you write. Most of the time speakers come in and just talk during the class period.

He looks remarkably like Frankie Avalon. He's a good teacher too, which is surprising considering that the class is taught by Powerpoint Slides that he didn't even write.
