Professor Vargas is very caring but if you aren't a quick learner, he's not for you. He usually will not explain during the lecture, he'll just show how to do it on the board. Few tests, graded homeworks and a final are the only grades. Most homework isn't checked since he gives a lot but doing it helps you understand the material better.

Vargas is definitely the most helpful professor at Dowling! Math is usually tough for a lot of people and this guy makes sure everyone is doing well. He offers his help to anyone who needs it and there's always a line outside his office door. *Hes the popular kid in school ;) * If you have any math class he offers, do yourself a favor and take it!

Vargas is legendary and is the best math teacher besides his wife. Heres the thing he teaches you real world applicable math as well a conceptual and theory just in case you need to take higher level math. The explanation and steps outlined can be followed by a blind man. But you MUST be willing to put in the effort. Wait to take his class always.

Without doubt the best that Dowling has to offer its students. Mention Vargas to any student in Dowling's Math and Science department and you'll see a smile. Not only a great teacher but also a good person, honest, intelligent and funny! He slams the desk or cheers at every breakthrough when solving problems on the blackboard. Also a soccer coach!!

What can I say about Dr. Vargas? He is sincere, dedicated, and wants his students to do well. He is extremely helpful, has a lot of patience (if he's able to deal w/ me he's patient lol), and is literally one of the most enthusastic professors/teachers I've ever had. I can tell he loves what he does and there is never a dull moment in his class.

Ive attended 3 different colleges and taken many math classes. If they could only clone Dr. Vargas...he is magnificent. He is by no means easy, but he will go the extra mile to help a student. I doubt you will ever encounter a more sincere, dedictaed professor.
