This professor is very unclear, i stopped attending lecture because i never learned anything from lecture. He doesn't really follow the book and is all over the place.

Unique class, unique professor. Although his material is hard to digest, you learn a lot from it. If you survive this class, you can surmount any college course.

This class is so challenging and you will feel more lost every lecture. But if you do the practice midterms and go to office hours you can score average or above which comes to an A-. I was lucky to have the TA I had (M). He was extremely helpful, smart, passionate and enthusiastic (and hot to top it off). Go to section and choose sec wisely.

This class was very interesting. While the subject matter is way beyond the level of undergraduate freshmen, it teaches you to tackle things that are extremely complicated. I am in my second year at UCSD and no class compares to this. It teaches you a lot, and you grow from it. I recommend it. It shows you there is a deeper side to chemistry!

While Weare himself is an interesting guy who really loves chemistry, the level of his class is far beyond what an intro chem class should be, honors or not. Office hours, if 'not canceled, are what got me through this class. The text book is almost pointless and the exams are impossible. Buy the recommended text! Good luck.

Professor Weare is a genius. Trust me, he knows chemistry. What he doesn't know is how to teach it to undergraduate freshman. Be warned, this class is not chemistry-its physics. It is crazy hard and Professor Weare, while sweet, is far less than helpful. He will treat you like you are grad students and go off on tangents. Good bloody luck.

Dr. Weare is really hard to understand and he digresses a lot in lectures. He only shows pictures from the book in class and then talk about something way beyond the general chemistry level. We ended up having to form our own study group to teach each other. Even though material is difficult, he gives a generous curve and half of the class gets As.

Basically this class is not general chemistry at all. We "learned" two things the whole quarter: quantum mechanics and bond theory. Neither are essential to anything chemistry related, and if you're actually interested in chem DON'T TAKE THIS CLASS. The professor doesn't answer questions and makes tests not relevant to anything. AVOID WEARE!!!

By far, this is the most interesting rewarding class I have ever taken at ucsd. Yes, this class is challenging, but you will learn a lot and appreciate chemistry a lot more! Don't let other people discourage you! This class will expose you to what chemistry really is, unlike the regular sequence where you learn nothing!

Professor Weare is a good teacher. He's challenging, insightful and funny. People usually complain about how Weare is unclear but this is false. The course material is counterintuitive (it's quantum mechanics) so some students blame to the professor. 50% of the people get A's and 50% get B's. Definitely an interesting and rewarding class

People who poo-poo this course are simply those who do not do the readings or show real interest in studying. It is, unfortunately, typical. To expect an easy A (or even B, as I got) makes the A mean nothing.

Prof Weare is not that bad; it's the course/subject that's extremely difficult. He's nice and helpful but he's old so his voice is soft and hard to hear. Lectures were pretty boring and confusing b/c of the material. Going to office hours would help like no other. His curve is very high at least. You will hate quantum mechanics after taking this.

Professor Weare, though enthusiastic and extremely knowledgeable, has a very unclear and confusing lecturing style. His exams are also quite difficult, so it is very important to attend all of the review sessions and go to the TAs for help. If you can stay above the average though, you should be fine, as Weare curves the average to around 90%.

The thing with this class is that you get what you work for. What Weare writes on the chalkboard is disorganized and his lectures are not very clear. His TAs however will become your best friend. Also his curves are very generous as long as you stay on the average or just above.

I wouldn't suggest taking this class or any other class taught by Dr.Weare. He is a poor lecturer and it makes the class much more difficult than it should be but despite that you really should attend all lectures and discussions. The exams were ridiculous but the curve is very generous and I got an A, most likely because the TA Khun was so helpful

This class was HARD. His lectures were confusing and hard to follow. Though Dr. Weare is a nice guy who is happy to help, it is hard to understand what he is trying to teach you. The averages were very low, but his curve is amazing. If you have never taken chemistry before, stay away. If so... still beware.

Unless you spend tremendous hrs a everyday on txtbooks and extra extra stuff he gives you you'll NOT get an A or A-. Prof. is extremely useless and NOBODY understands what he's saying. Don't take this class grad school don't even care. The test is 90% irrelevant to the txtbook. Other ppl commenting are NERDS don't trust them with the "easiness".

His lectures are near impossible to understand but he has an awesome curve. Our first midterm average was around 40% but he curve that to a B+/A-. He is really nice and will try to help you to understand.
