Good professor. Lectures are interesting, but a little dreary at times. Tests are not overly difficult and are generally graded loosely with 10% extra credit. Usually very helpful and friendly outside of class, but can be a tad condescending at times.

Comment:
A great teacher who truly understands his material. He loves to help, and is very accessible during office hours and through emails. It's a tough class, the programs require a lot of time and work but a very rewarding class.

One of the best computer professors I have ever had. You will remember your time with him much later in life and look back as one of the few that made a difference. If you only care about a grade, take your chances. If you care to learn you will be rewarded.

Dr. Weiss has a very particular way he wants everything done... unfortunately no one, not even himself, knows what that is. If homework answers are too short, he'll dock you points. Too long, he'll write condescending notes that will make you want to drop out of school and become the worthless trash you were always meant to be. Take ANYONE else.

This man will not make your life any easier. He thinks his class is the most important thing in his universe. Students were literally told that interviews for internships would be counted as absences even if cleared beforehand, and too many absences will drop you letter grades. For the love of Lovelace take ANY. ONE. ELSE.

He expects you to know your stuff, but at the same times prepares you for the tests. His programs are difficult and challenging, but he gives many hints along the way to make it easier. If you are having trouble understanding something, and go in to ask him a question, he is very helpful.

I've taken a number of classes taught by Dr. Weiss and I'd recommend any of his electives to anyone up for a challenge. Some of the projects in his classes I've done to date include a genetic algorithm approach to solving Sudoku, prototype kiosk software for the Mammoth Site, landsat image classification, a Qt image editor, ...

He is very particular about attending the class. If he sees you everyday in the class and puntucal with homeworks and go to the review class before the tests you can easily make an A. He teaches interesting stuff, I took CSC 761/461 and CSC 631. His tests are sometimes tough, but challenging. If you put in effort he is very helpful.

If you can help it dont take any electives with him. His tests are completely rediculous and he acts as if his classes are the only ones the students have. It sucks because he teaches all the interesting sounding courses (graphics, image processing, etc

Weiss tends to be rather unhelpful. If you show up to class every day and are a proper student and sit in the front row you will do fine. However he is not understanding of any extenuating circumstances, and is quick to poke fun at students having trouble
