John is a knowledgeable professor who is often misunderstood/misread. He cares about his students and genuinely wants to help them succeed, and will offer great advice if you are willing to put in the effort. He will become frustrated/disappointed, just like you and I, but have patience and you will see that his lessons are valuable and insightful.

I do not understand why people are taking this guy's CP class so seriously. Literally, don't overthink everything he says and just do what you want and he'll give you a pass with a decent final mark. He's a very chill guy, but the classes could get weird sometimes because of his unpredictable personality.

So glad I paid for this institute to have John as my prof! At first it was hard to pin point how he led his classes. But in the end, it's is up to you to imagine, and he lets you do that! Not too difficult, but very stress-free environment. I seriously recommend having this prof! Learnt a lot conceptually also, super inspiring. :)

Most of the classes consist of him rambling on about everything and then students leaving the class feeling that they aren't getting any feedback on their projects. I then realized that with those lectures he was just trying to make me think in new ways and push me to do the creative development myself and developing my own creative process.

This class is about the process, it is not about any answers, and he's not going to give you answers. It's supposed to be frustrating. I learned through my own reactions and I personally learned a lot. Like other reviews say, you just have to be open. If you're just here for animation or commD, you'll probably hate it.

I did not learn nothing from him. He made you do work that is really unclear and even you have worked hard and tried your best, he gives everybody the same grades. (Usaully B and C)

John certainly isn't for you if you have a closed mind. If you're willing to learn and be pushed to think creatively, he is. Hands down one of my favourites in the school, bizarre in all the best ways.

Undoubtedly the absolute worst professor I've ever had. The assignments are bogus and vague - you won't learn anything about creativity. He is extremely rude to students, and creepy; he doesn't care about personal boundaries. If you take his class get ready to be touched without your consent, and frustratingly confused.

Avoid this teacher! The level of physical discomfort I felt in his class was horrible. He walks behind your chair and talks at you, tousles your hair, puts his hands on your shoulders/neck/waist without warning. On multiple occasions I saw him pat students on the head like a dog. He gets annoyed at you for not responding to his superficial lecture.

I took a class with John almost 15 years ago and I think about his lectures all of the time. While challenging and disorienting at the time, "Creative Processes" was a gift to me.

Absolutely dreadful professor. Zero respect for learning, zero engagement, zero respect for students. I've had a lot of amazing, challenging, supportive, thoughtful, and engaging teachers at ECUAD - this guy isn't one of them. Yes, quite a few people love him- and that's their problem. If you have any self-respect, avoid John Wertschek.

You will learn nothing from him if you expect to understand him. Rather than listening to what he is SAYING, listen to what he is MEANING. Don't expect to get it right away.

John knows how to get you to face your dragons. That''s it. It doesn''t get any more valuable than that. In order to understand your practice you need to try and understand yourself and who you really are. this class is a very self exploratory experience that can only be had once. You haven''t lived until you have played the rock game Mind bender
