Nothing wrong with him - just not my favorite prof. He lectures, a LOT, and isn't the most engaging, but he does know what he's talking about. Passionate for sure, just doesn't connect super well with his students.

I really enjoyed this class. We only had one test and one paper. For the final, we had a choice between taking the final or writing a research paper. He does have long lectures, but what he talks about is really interesting. The class was an easy A and you don't necessarily HAVE to do the readings, but it's helpful if you do.

There was no structure to the class. There is no reviewing and a lot of reading expected. He is unaware of misbehaving students in class. Overall I hated this class.

Yelding is phenomenal. Although he tends to ramble and not follow the syllabus, he is really good. He's super passionate about what he teaches and has a lot of experience with what he's talking about. If you do what's expected of you, or at least try, he will do whatever he can for you. He understands the plight of the college student. Great Prof.

Professor Yelding is a very good encounter with cultures professor, though there is a lot of reading. Class is discussion driven and most of the scheduled quizzes do not happen. He is mostly concerned that his students see the world through clear eyes. I didn't always agree with him, but it was a good class.

He loves what he teaches and you can tell. A great guy to talk to, everyone should just sit down and have a little chat with him. He is very nice. Classes can get a bit boring when its lecture time. A lot of reading, but it is all very interesting and worth taking the time to read, well, most of the time. I recommend him for sure.

Very nice guy! A lot of reading, but easy and straight forward quizzes. Very personable and loves the topic. He takes up the full class time and usually goes over. The class can be boring and can drag on at times, but overall easy and a very nice teacher. Great prof!

While certainly not a bad prof, class discussions in his class are extremely boring, due to his inability to recognize that not all viewpoints are legitimate. Discussions would become circular and stale in a matter of minutes, and his class tends to attract students that enjoy hearing themselves talk.

Yelding is a nice guy, but I would suggest getting a different prof for EWC. He likes to hear himself talk and he'll go on and on about things that are completely off topic. And don't bet on ever getting out of class on time let alone early. Also he's horrible as an advisor because he's never around and doesn't check his e-mail.

He's a great teacher. I had him for Encounter with Cultures, and he really knows how to present topics in a way that make you think. There were a good number of papers, but it wasn't too bad. He's a really nice man.
