Really cool laid-back guy. Shows us a ton of interesting videos and things in class. He also helped us with our resumes and talked about getting jobs and internships so he's very much willing to help us students. Show up and do the work and you'll do fine. There's a group project and an individual paper but they're not bad. I'd take him again.

Yoder is good & if he hadn't refused to correct the clicker error in his grading, I would have said he was great. But a lack of understanding & willingness reflects badly upon him. That 2% makes a difference when you're getting kicked out & losing your scholarship. Advice: Be sure he knows you're in class for sure so this doesn't happen to you too.

What a wonderful professor and class! Definitely not as hard as CHE or BIS, but this class was definitely alot of work. However, I learned so much about biotech in general and had a fantastic time learning about new concepts. Midterms were straight from powerpoints, don't procrastinate on the group project. Yoder is great!

Professor Yoder is one of the best professors at UC Davis. He's very intelligent but that doesn't separate him students. He is very personable, kind and compassionate and will always take the time to meet with you for class or just to discuss your future. Really great guy and very fair class. Do all the work and show up to get an A.

I love Yoder! He truly cares for his students and wants to help them as much as possible. I did well in both BIT 171 and BIT 1, and found them more enjoyable than any other UC Davis classes. Truly a great professor!

Class is a lot of work, but you get a lot out of it. Grade: 35% exams, 35% group project, 30% homework. He teaches well, and office hours are very helpful. If you attend every lecture and answer iClicker question, you can get a 5% boost. If you want to learn a lot about Biotech, both science and business of it, take this class!

Yoder is really engaging. Sometimes lectures move quickly, but if you ask for clarification in office hours or discussion he is very helpful. My only warning is that BIT 1 is A LOT of work for a 4-unit intro class. There are 3 midterms, a final, weekly homework assignments, and a HUGE group project. Worth it if you are passionate about biotech!

The class goes over a series of ethical concerns in biotech and how to think critically about our decisions. Yoder definitely knows his stuff. He pushes you to think. Approachable and kind of funny. Has a laid back attitude but is engaging

Great class, in addition to the interesting bioethical issues that we went over in class, he teaches you things that are often missing in other classes: how to get internships, how to submit scientific articles to journals, etc.

Easy and enthusiastic. Spends class time teaching how to make it into an internship and other helpful career tips. Very laid back but at the same time conveys his message and gets people thinking. One of my favorite courses at UCD, and definitely my favorite prof.

Interesting class. This professor makes the class worth it even if it isn't required for your major. Spends time discussing your options after undergrad which was very helpful.

He is an awesome teacher! One of the easiest and most worthwile classes I've ever taken at Davis. Writing assignments are short paragraphs and you only have to write one paper, but it's step by step process that they guide you through. EASY A!Trust me!!
