Hall is a great professor. He knows and understands the material hes teaching. He is always willing to help his student. The reason most people struggle in this class is because the SCALE-UP style is extremely difficult, especially for those who has never taken a physics class. Study hard and do the homework and you'll be fine

Professor Hall has a corny, but likable personality. He teaches the content very well, makes harder concepts easy to understand. He cares about you and your grade. If you go to class and do the problems and labs, you will be prepared for the tests. I used Chegg for all the online quizzes and homework and still did well.

all I can think of is that him and tim cook look smack alike. the class is hard but it's not his fault just the way it's setup ,so doesn't matter who your prof is all the work is done outside of class

Hard course. He is helpful and will try to answer your questions to the best of his ability. Just don't ask a question about something that should be obvious 2 months in, otherwise he'll get irritable. Make sure you read the book, do all the homework, and attend every lecture. Get a good study group and study frequently.

The way the class is set up makes it extremely hard to grasp such a difficult topic. Rarely had lectures and were just expected to teach yourself the material. The hw's and quizzes were way over the top and took up a lot of time and in the end didn't really help. The material i hard no matter who you have so be prepared and form a good study group!

The class is terribly taught and the work load for the class is ridiculous compared to the amount of time that you have to get it all done. The exams are nothing like anything that you learn throughout the semester. Good Luck

Mr. Hall is a great physics professor. Very clear lecture, nice and friendly, helpful with questions, but more quizzes and homework. The exams are quite easy if you can finish all the mastering physics homework.

Physics is physics its always hard and you need to put effort. The difference is that if you ask Jonathan hall with anything even duriing quizes and exams he will hep you. dont be afraid to ask and go to his office hours he would gladly help you. And he doesnt grade in class activity so a fixed 100% for that.

He was an okay teacher, but nothing much was explained and it was all group work (not his fault though). Only problem is that mastering physics and the online quizes don't really boost your score by much, so if you do badly on one exam you are in a terrible spot. Problems are difficult due to no calculators so it's all "in terms of" which is hard.

Mr. Hall is a very good teacher. He is more than willing to help when asked, and really tries to bring humor into the classroom! It can be hard sometimes to grasp what he says the first time, but its physics class! You wont understand it unless you practice it and see it for yourself and this is coming from a physics major who got an A

The class is designed to make you hate the professor, but he is actually really good at his job. Very helpful. Just the way 211 is designed you think he is not helping. It is scale up which means you have to do work.

Mr. Hall is one of the best teachers I've had so far. He knows the material and is passionate about teaching it and helping others understand it. The material is extremely difficult, but he grades very fairly and keeps it interesting. Be prepared for a challenge, and don't be afraid to ask for help.

TERRIBLE CLASS. ALL ENGINEERING MAJORS, PLEASE TAKE IT DURING THE SUMMER OR BE PREPARED TO DIE. this class is scaled up and its painful. Besides, you do not even learn anything. Mastering physics is a nightmare and really tedious.

Mr. Hall's class was no doubt the hardest of the classes I took in my first semester, but - being a physics major myself - I was interested in the material and I actually read the textbook and made an attempt to understand the content. Hall is incredibly informed and will answer any questions you pose to him to the full extent of his knowledge.

(Continued): here, preview means not read through all contents but just have your own time to think about the topic and contents before discussed in class. Though some homework, you'll sometimes be stressed but in each exam period, you'll be free if you do your best inside and outside of class.

He is best professors I've ever met. Of course, his class is not easy and requires lots of work and efforts other than class time; that's why it's SCALE-UP class. However, once you do homework and read out the textbook before each class, you'll be fine.

John Hall is an awesome professor. His lectures are clear, his exams are fair, and he keeps the material interesting. If there was ever anything I wasn't completely clear on, he was happy to answer any questions I had. I seriously considered Physics as a major after this class.
