Comment:

Very egotistical. Believes that he can disrespect students and belittle them and uses the fact that he has tenure as leverage. Has weird anger issues and if he has a bad day he takes it out on his students. He likes students that laugh at his borderline creepy jokes. Also gets off-topic in class and proceeds to send us what we "missed."

Dr. Sturm was an awesome teacher. He does make you work in his class, but if you actually try and dont give him crap you will be just fine. He is funny and a brilliant violinist.

Reading past comments made me rather weary at first, since I never had him as my Professor before. But I honestly don't see why everyone is saying such harsh and critical things! He's very interested in students asking questions and makes every class worth going to by making it entertaining and interesting. Very inspiring with a great personality! Just do your best and you should be fine.

This man acts like a child if you get on his bad side. He will play games and talk badly about you to other professors. I know this because they TOLD ME! But, you need the course so you play his game and wonder how someone sitting in his place could hold a big enough grudge to bad-mouth students to other professors. This faculty is known for it

He is EXTREMELY knowledable and always makes class interesting. That being said, I very quickly learned the danger of asking questions in his classroom. I asked a question once and he made me feel very stupid in front of everybody. He even laughed! >| I shouldn't have to feel that way when I'm trying to be a good student in his classroom!

I loved this class. He makes it interesting and you can tell he really wants his students to learn the information and keep it with them. However, there is a lot of information to learn and if you want a good grade, you need to attend nearly every class.

Excellent musician. Very motivated to bring out the best in his students, and aspires to teach them something that will stick with them and improve their lives. As a history instructor, he is very conscious of details, & makes class interesting by enhancing his lectures with audio/visual examples.

Very good teacher. I felt like his lectures were very important to my development as a musician, and his tests are very fair. Makes corny jokes, but laughs at himself a lot. Overall, an excellent music history professor.

Despite my ratings, I learned alot in his class, HOWEVER, I also didn't hardly ever talk in class because he makes fools of most who do-if he doesn't agree with what you say. Not very helpful and he doesn't agree with the no question is stupid idea.

He teaches music history, and he does an pretty good job at it. If you like to learn you will like his classes, but if you don't like class in general, his lectures will probably be boring. BTW, Music 120 is a pointless class anyway
