First off all exams are open notes and open book and he gives the entire exam out before the actual exam date so you can figure out your answers and bring them to the exam with you. He is a very funny and entertaining lecturer, and I would recommend any class that he teaches!

Jose is an amazing professor. He is funny, entertaining, and understands that what he is teaching is very tedious and boring. All the exams are open notebook/book AND he gives you the questions of the exam the night before, but the exams are still are very tough. I recommend going to review sessions. Its a very lame subject but Jose is so awesome

By far one of my favorite professors. His lectures are funny and interesting, so much so that I didn't miss a class. Even though the material isn't that hard you definitely do need to study for the exams even though he gives the questions out the day before.

Nothing bad to say about Jose. Informative, smart, helpful and humorous. A lot of the class was self taught which is good in its own sense but you may be left with questions on a subject at the end of a problem. Feel free to ask him and talk about it and he will certainly give you the time of day.

Open book, open note exams. Not as easy as you'd think though. Luckily, he always posts the exam questions (without the multiple choice) the day before the exam. His lectures are very funny and he keeps you interested. Offers a lot of extra credit.

Jose hates Lecturing, so his soil micro class is all about group discussions. He gives the class free reign to come up with their own solutions and as long as you research your ideas and make a solid effort in learning, you will do well. Jose rarely tells you you are wrong because every idea has promise. He's real down to earth and highly sarcastic

Fantastic professor, his exams are difficult, but fair. Be expected to read the assigned parts of the text and I highly recommend annotations. However, if you invest the time it's completely worth it. DO NOT SKIP CLASS.

Interesting class and subject. I find that he isn't very helpful and the directions for classwork and papers are not very clear. The tests also seem to go over things not covered in class.

This class uses a different format of teaching and learning, PBL. It requires communication between peers and professor but a significant portion comes from figuring things out yourself. I learned SO much in this class that I will never forget because of this teaching/learning format. Jose is legit. Gotta put in effort and earn the grade.

Nice guy, but not a great class. Lectures were interesting at times. The exams seem to come from another class (the questions are often too advanced for what was taught). I got a B in the class but had to kill myself to get it and didn't learn a whole lot.

This class made me seriously considering a future in soil science. The class takes work but there's nothing in the exams that he doesn't talk about before and that the book doesn't cover. He gives you his lectures online as well. A good student can get an A on this with a little work and it really is more interesting than you'd think. Good class.

Prof. Amador was one of the best teachers that I had- took the class online and most of the class work is done in groups. Very independent class but he is there if you have any questions. Nice prof and is very understanding. If you work hard, you'll get the grade you deserve : )

This class is not for the immature or irresponsible. If you take it seriously and make a real effort, you will do well and earn his respect. If you don't, it won't be pretty.

Jose was the absolute best! Every member of the class couldn't wait to come. We learned to much more about "dirt" then we could have imagined- it's even inspired one of the students to major in it! Jose is a fantastic teacher, take the course seriously and you'll get so much out of it. Couldn't have asked for a better class, or teacher!

Horrible professor, as well as rude to students. His teaching style could work well for some students but if you have trouble teaching yourself everything that has to do with a subject then good luck. He basically flat out refused to help after me e-mailing him many times. I would never take a class with him again.

He's a great teacher and such a fun, down-to-earth person. I learned a lot in this class, but also had a lot of fun. He's even good to talk to about other classes, especially troubles in organic chem!

Didn't learn anything in the class. It could have been better. Good method of teaching for NRS 212, but didn't translate well to microbiology, especially for people without a strong micro background.

Who would think Soil science would be fascinating? Not me--until Jose's class! His method of teaching is really great. He gives you a project and steps back so you're forced to learn by doing, but if you run into a problem he's very available to help! Plus he's fricken hillarious. Great Professor.
