Dr Sainz is great! Really chill laid back kind of guy and super easy to get along and establish a relation with. Lectures are mandatory and in 393, many have been fairly interesting in many ways (I'll leave that up for interpretation). No tests or quizzes in 393 just, a business project and homework is all for 393. Highly recommend!

Dr Sainz is awesome! Can be real funny at times and is very helpful during office hours. Lectures are somewhat pointless to go to though since he ends up emailing the powerpoint he went over but the lectures are mandatory. Tests are essays which aren't bad if you read over the stuff and the class can get very interesting at times.

AWESOME MAN. I felt I sucked at foreign languages after 3 semesters of bad grades and struggling through classes with other Spanish teachers at UMW. Sainz is so nice and really made me have confidence in myself and in my abilities to make it through UMW ridiculous language requirements.

Amazing teacher! I'm terribly at foreign languages and so hate taking them. I took Spanish 205 (meets every single day) thinking it would be terrible having it everyday but Professor Sainz is awesome. The class was actually really fun. Best teacher I had in college!

Very engaging and animated in class, and make the material very clear. Definitely recommend him. At least for me, though, he's much more subdued and serious when you go see him during office hours, which is kind of odd.

A good professor, but not great. He plays favorites a TON (and I am not someone to say that often about professors, but it's really true here). For a upper level lit. class, this was way too boring & easy, most of the time he just explains the plot of what you read. Don't take him if you actually want to *think* about the literature.

Sainz is AWESOME! he is so relaxed and funny, which makes his class fun. He makes topics interesting for students, although sometimes goes on unrelated tangents. his class is a little unnerving tho b/c well over half your grade is up in the air at the end of the semester:proj, paper. take home stuff is great- less memorizing, more learning. love it

Without question the best Spanish teacher I've ever had. I hated spanish in highschool and had to fight for B's and C's. With this guy I had an easy B and a shot at an A. Uses the book as the primary teaching tool. Helpful both in and out of class. class is not a drag. he cracks good jokes and doesn't like to embarass people. helps seniors graduate

Sainz is a good teacher, very clear and energetic. He really seems to love what he does. However, this class was not as challenging as I expected it to be. If you're looking to breeze through your language requirement, this will be easy. Sainz seems to understand that most of the kids in this class are just looking to get a passing grade.

If you even try to take your Spanish and the class seriously, you will be one of the "favorites" these jokers are talking about. Just because he knows and has a rapport with students from previous courses doesn't make him unfair. A friendly, understanding professor with a great attitude.

Favourites??? Try missing more classes than allowed & not even "his favourites" get a free pass. Besides, you become one when you DO the work, SHOW interest and don't just sit in the back of the class.

Sainz is funny. However, if you don't like a professor who plays favorites and is "in" with some students, you probably won't like him. I think he pulls grades out of a hat, easy to get an A if he knows and likes you, if not you get a B....to be honest I thought the class was boring, but I also am not that great in Spanish and don't listen to all

I didn't think Sainz was great. The class is boring and repetitive. Plus, he plays favorites like I've never seen before. If you don't become a favorite in the first couple of classes, might as well drop or you won't be treated equally.
