I found this professor to be rather easy once you find out his teaching style. He is boring and does go off on random tangents. But his papers are based completely off of your opinion. His tests include an opinion based question and multiple identifications to be defined. The format is the same every time and is fairly basic.

i had to fight him over every grade in the class because he would grade not on content or historical analysis and intelligent opinion, but would rather grade on if he liked you as a student or if he liked your writing style. i asked him several times to explain to me were he had taken points off in my essays which received a grade of c- prior to me

Yes I agree that Britto is hard. However as long as you know that his tests are from the book, you know exactly what to prepare from. His papers are basically your thoughts, and if its not acceptable he lets you rewrite it without any penalty. He is very smart and enjoyable to have lecture. He throws in fun facts here and there not even related.

This guy is a complete hack. I happened to stumble upon this tonight but he was the only C I received my entire academic career (I have a PHD from NYU in History) He is boring, knows little more than the book presents, hates being challenged, and talks too much about his religion.

This is the worst history class that I have ever taken. His tests are very difficult and like the reviewer below stated, if you don't memorize the text books you will most likely fail. Plus he makes no effort to make his lectures interesting. Don't take this class, it is not worth the 3 day a week 8am wake up.

This is probably the worst teacher I have ever had in my whole academic career. His lectures are very unorganized and extremely hard to follow. I sat in his Latin American History class and 85% of the time he talks about European history and almost always never makes a clear connection between the 2 regions of the world.

Notes serve you no good, memorize the book or be doomed. He is only "book smart" I love history and reading class is boring and the only way too get a decent grade is to memorize text book prior to examinations. we started out with like 35 students now we have like 18. Those who left were smart. He should just read books not teach.

Yea, so I am a history major and everyone raves about this guy. Just a fair warning... don't take anything that he teaches on-line. Hardest man to get a hold of and leaves you no feedback as per grade. Horrible, horrible class.

I am confused on why this professor is getting such high ratings. He is very average as a teacher and his lectures are scattered and unorganized. His grading is unfair. I am not being biased I went to him every time he gave me a grade and he had to change it because he was wrong (not kidding). His class isnt even easy. Not worth taking.

Comment:

Britto is a very good lecturer. However, he is very unorganized and it makes it hard to participate because he is all over the place and his particpation % is high. Overall, effective. Do the readings, but don't go by the syllabus because he's off, just listen to what he assigns in class. Nice man, personable, and knows his stuff.

He is not the easiest professor out there, but he makes learning fun with videos and good lessons. He will call you out if you fall asleep in class. If you read the material (which usually isn't a lot and its easy reading) and go to class, you will do fine on tests. His tests are short-answer terms, multiple choice and essay. Take him! He's grand

Not bad at all. I had him for Latin Americans in the US too. I suggest you take him. He knows a lot and he's a gooph ball...in a Hauptman sort of way. I took away a lot from both classes.

I love this guy! He knows a lot of info, even though his lectures are a bit confusing. Keep an organized notebook and you'll be fine. Take him for any course you can! You'll love muffin day, too!
