Yes, he's hilarious but his humor isn't helping me understand the material. His teaching methods are strange & hard to follow. He's not straight forward & excepts you to understand everything he's saying. I'm a first year student & his class didn't help. I learned more on my own when I studied during finals than in class. Wish I had Sullivan

I had professor Devlin for contracts, BA, wills and trusts and drafting wills and trusts. By far he is one of the best professors at MSL. He is incredibly intelligent. He is a tough grader but if you go to class, take notes, and pay attention the exams are not that bad. He is a fair grader and hilarious in class.

Arrogant, intimidating, tough as nails, crude, to-the-point, no nonsense - Hum, sounds like a judge. I love this guy! He's the best professor I had at MSL. You get through the class in the fog, then a year later you realize how much you learned from him and remember things by his little sayings. You will hear him while you are taking the bar exam

Love him or Hate him !!! the choice is yours. Yes! he can be too forward, at times offensive, BUT he is an AMAZING Teacher. He will not chew it for you, you have to do your own leg work; but he will inspire you if you let him; and what ever you do, do not get offended! If you will, Good luck in Court!

He's one of my favorite teachers at MSL. He's an awesome teacher that truly makes the subject matter come alive. He is intense, but if you can't handle him, you have thin skin and should not be a lawyer anyway.

I took Contracts with JD nearly 15 years ago. Good man and a great prof. Joe reminds me of Kingsfield but with a heart. Those that complain about him haven't lived in the real world. If you can't be your own advocate, JD demands this of you, you'll never be equipped to advocate on behalf of your client. Joe will teach you contract law & advocacy.

So I had dear Prof Devlin way back in the early 90s for Contracts and Wills and Trusts. It totally cracks me up to read the recent comments about him and see that he has not changed one BIT. My favorite was when he said something like "having one of those days when you want to do the Chiquita behind the Dunkin Donuts counter"- classic Joe.

Joe Devlin is a good teacher but there are those who do not warm up to his intimidating presence. After getting to know the real Joe Devlin, when I had a problem with one of my classes, he rose to the ocassion as student dean and reacted more positively than a few professors who'd pretended to be on your side. Thanks, Joe.

Can I say AWESOME.. Contracts is a very dry subject, because of Joe Devlin the class is fun, interesting and entertaining. He loves to make fun of some individuals, but if you extremely shy, he knows it and leaves you alone. Very good teacher and fair grader. If you want to succeed in his class, don't be lazy and go on Saturdays review.

He is an extremely bright, good looking person. The class is interesting but hard to follow at times. The comments below about his inappropriate relations with a studends are true. He loves the female students and is borderline unapproachable if you are a male. Major character issues aside, he is a decent teacher.

Devlin got in big trouble for his conduct with a student last summer- its hard to respect a teacher who acts the way he does. devlin gets away with anything he wants.
