I LOVED Prof. Hoffmann. He is so smart, truly an expert in his field, but understood that we weren't law students so didn't force that expectation on us. Participation matters, and there are few grades, but this is mainly a participation grade and is a discussion based class. I think he is one of the best profs at IUB, take his classes if you can!!

Pros: Brilliant, engaging, and friendly. Cons: No office hours. Gave us a grand total of one practice/old multiple choice question before giving us a closed book, no notes final exam featuring 55 multiple choice questions. Whoa, not cool.

An incredible lecturer with a style that captivates, entertains, and enlightens. He does not cold call but if you raise your hand to comment, you better bring your A game because he will call "BS." This tough love forces students to think before they speak and assert their comments with conviction. Quite possibly the best professor IU has to offer.

Amazing Lecturer with a dark sense of humor. Wears nothing but Cosby sweaters. Does not cold call, but takes volunteers and makes those who poorly think out their answers or hypotheticals pay. This really keeps the riff-raff quiet during the class. He wrote the casebook. I'm currently taking a seminar with him. Previously: Crim Law & Crim Pro Inv.

Hoffman's lecture style goes unappreciated by those who prefer a highschool-esque spoon feeding of the material. Hoffman asks tough questions and challenges wrong or incomplete answers (but not in a rude way). One negative is that (for my classes at least) he is never available for office hours. Nonetheless, Hoffman is truly an expert in his field.

The Hoff doesn't want to be in class anymore than the average 1L, which is hilarious. The exam was challenging, but fair. In fact, I'd say it was the most fair exam of 1L.

Hoffmann is sublime; one of the true gems at IU. A man of rare intellect and insight, his superior brainpower may intimidate skittish students, but like a fine single-malt scotch, those with a refined pallet savored each class as a humbling hour of pure legal bliss. Challenging & practical (not much MPC, which is outdated), he's a towering virtuoso
