Comment:
McCarthy is a great professor. He's the head of the ChemE department currently, and I took him for Transport (300). He's organized, color-codes notes, and tries to help you learn. Homeworks can be tricky, but he's very helpful in office hours if you need it. In-class group quizzes, heat exchanger design group project, 2 midterms + cumulative final.

Comment:
McCarthy is a good teacher, tests are doable if youre resasonably prepared. He is very clear and not too boring in lecture. The homeworks are long, but if you try the absolute worst you will get is 50%. An A is very doable.

Doesn't teach as good as Parker IMO. Notes are on a website, not in powerpoint form. Long homeworks, but graded on effort. Tests can be rough if you aren't prepared.

He is a great professor that makes the material very easy to learn and understand. He's funny and keeps the class interesting, and the tests are not hard if you just show up and pay attention. I'm thankful I had him as my first teacher in ChemE. If I could take all my pillars with him, I would.

i had him for chem engineering lab. he was very unorganized, didn't bother to show up some days, and didn't really seem to care about the 1 credit lab. grades were given at random and it was a total blow off

He's the kind of guy you would want to go have a beer with, not the kind of guy you'd want teaching you.
