Comment:
He does the math proofs behind the concepts in class which I believe take too much time and only a couple students will understand what he is doing. Would prefer if he would just show students how to use the formulas. Homework is heavy but will definitely prepare you for the exams if you correct any wrong answers.

Show up and do home work and you will pass. Other than that he is not a good professor because he uses wrong math equations and has difficulty explaining hard concepts.

A lot of homework but an easy A. Participation matters. Exams are t/f and math problems. T/F questions are all student made and given ahead of time. Math problems on the exams come directly from the homework.

I took him for Financial Institutions and markets. What a boring guy! Though I think he is more bored than the students . He seems to be intelligent but I doubt he enjoys teaching. Dont take him, if you do, do all the homework and prepare to study A LOT.

He seems intelligent, but is not caught up with times. He tries to show proofs behind some equations or problems and uses wrong algebra to do so. He gives wrong information. Finance majors, DO NOT TAKE HIM! If you are any other major, just do the homework and read the book, his exams are almost exactly from the homework.

Prof. Mccarthy wants you to do well but he makes that extremely hard. He gives practice problems identical to the test for the midterm but then gives no help when it comes to the 18 chapter final. If you want to do well in this class, make sure you do all of the homework and understand it because those exact problems are on the midterm & final

Worst professor I've ever had, completely oblivious that everyone in the class has no idea what he is teaching. you sit in class for 3 hours to go over homework and doing the homework itself takes just as long. do not take this class if you cant handle teaching yourself 18 chapters from the book for the final.

Professor McCarthy is a very nice person but does NOT teach. Only take this class if your other classes aren't demanding at all and you don't mind teaching yourself/ studying 18 chapters for the final.

FIN 311 is an easy class. All you need to do is go to class, do the homework and understand what you did and do the practice test. I got an A because I did the work and the work is not hard its just math and its not hard math.

McCarthy doesn't teach anything all he does is ramble but he puts practice questions out before every exam which are almost identical to the exam. If you go to class, do you homework and do the practice questions there is no way you can get anything under a B if you do there's something wrong.

Gives a midterm on reserve, some of the problems are IDENTICAL to the midterm. That's 20% of your grade. The final, on the other hand, is 40% of your grade and on SEVENTEEN CHAPTERS and there is NO PRACTICE EXAM ON REVIEW. Whoever gets the highest grade on the final automatically gets an A for the course. No joke, ask him.

20% Homework, 20% Attendance, 20% Midterm, 40% Final. Advice: GET THE EXAM ON REVIEW IN THE LIBRARY. Know how to do the problems. Prof M. is on his own planet and speaks to us like we are all Finance masters. Go to class, do the hw and do the exams on reserve and you'll get at least a B.

He's not as bad as every says he is. Hw and attendence equal 30% of your grade. Hw can be done is class also. Tests are identical to ones placed on reserve in library. Class sucks no doubt, but just grind though it and youll be fine while alot.

Avoid him. Weirdest and most boring teacher at bryant. if you want your end of semester grades you have to "u.s. postal mail an evvelope" to him. homework takes multiple hours. only good thing is homework/attendance= 30% of your grade so if you go to class and do you your hw youll end up with at least a C in the class

4o% of grade is showing up and doing your homework. tests are from the homework ONLY and exact essays on past exams (which are in the lib the day before). class is torture to sit through, but worth the grade boost. if you have a work ethic, you will pull a decent grade.

He is one of the best professors Ive ever had. Attendance and homework are 40% of your grade, there are no surprises on tests and there's no reason to get less than 100. He is extremely dedicated to his students. Assigns about an hours worth of homework every class, but other than that it is an easy A. I would definitely take him again.
