Really knows his stuff- and you'd damn well better know yours, too. Exams are essay format, three questions per exam, three exams per semester- you will cover lots of material that never shows up on tests. Anthro majors should seek him out, those who just need a credit or an SI marker should probably find something else- this class is no joke.

At first, I had a difficult time feeling out what he wants from you. Once you learn to read him, you volunteer a lot and he sees your face and learns your name, you're okay. But he does not cut slack for anything, you really earn your A's in his classes. But you'll walk out of there with a great handle on the material.

I took Dr. Mountjoy's World Prehistory class my fisrt semester here.It was a challenge to say the least. He takes a potentially interesting subject and makes it incredibly boreing and bland. It is obvious he has a lot of knowledge on the subject and he is very arogant. His lectures are really hard to take notes on. I recomend a recorder for his class.

I thought Mountjoy knew his subject but he didn't present it very well. I know it's supposed to be a hard class, but at the same time he could have presented the material in a way other than just reading it off from his notes. That and he would blur the important and the unimportant things together making it harder to study for tests.

If you love arrogant professors than you'll love Dr. Mountjoy. He has favorites so go to class and talk about the readings, ask him questions about his work. I am an anthropology major (not ATY101) and have done grad. courses. By comparison his class is hard. He is very unclear as to what is and what isn't important info. But you can handle it.

His tests are SOOO FREAKIN HARD! I thought I failed the first one for sure. But i ended up making an 84 on it so not bad. I'm still in this class so there's 2 more exams to go. But I like it generally! The subject matter is really interesting and he knows his stuff!! Tape recorders really help!!!

Oh how we love Dr. Mountjoy....Joe B is the absolute best you will ever find. He knows what he's talking about, and he expects the same when he tests you. If you want to be an anthro/archaeo, you need to study under him. Say "squash"!

I'm tired of profs getting bad rating just because the courses are hard-if you want to be an Anthropologist buck up honey cause it's not easy! Mountjoy is one of the best around - I have a B+ average of 4 classes taken-maybe some need to study more!

He knows his stuff, but doesn't know how to tell you about it. He just throws tons of crap at you and makes you spit it out on a test. I went to his office to ask for help. He helped me about as much as a dumpster could have.
