Dr. Palermo is funny and he makes lectures interesting. He encourages student participation, and gives good feedback on papers. Two-page response papers nearly every week, one final essay. Students work in groups of two or three to lead discussions each week.

Palermos History 17B class was very easy for me. There is no homework in the class except for three essays which are relatively easy. There is no group work, you really just have to show up to class. There are three exams and all were pretty easy for me. He is very passionate about what he does and hes a cool guy, i would definitely recommend him.

Great professor - and his T.A was brilliant. Not Sure if he'll be there again, a lovely British dude, funny and helpful. Really good course and Palermo kept it interesting.

Yes, there are 4 response papers but you only have to write 2 pages each (double spaced too). He gives out study guides for all 3 exams which is super helpful, and he also allows a whole 8x11 hand written cheat sheet (front and back) for the last 2 exams. He is super passionate about History, and makes hilarious sarcastic jokes during class.

tbh this class was really boring, but was the easiest A I have ever gotten. He even says himself that he tries to pass everyone since it is a GE course. He really likes talking and yelling and his lectures are boring, but if you put in the effort for the tests and response papers you will get an A.

Would definitely recommend taking his class especially if you aren't all that into history. He's funny, energetic, and passionate. Definitely need to study for tests but he gives study guides and covers everything in class. Lecture heavy but his lectures are interesting and relevant.

4 response papers, 3 exams (2 of which he allows 1 pg notes). Palermo makes his TA grade the exams so expect little to no feedback from him. He only grades the papers, and when you ask him about your paper, little to no feedback is given. Adds words onto the study guides he gives and usually NEVER chooses them. Would recommend dif. hist. prof.

This class is easy if you remember History from High School. His books are only really needed when a paper is due. Get them at the Library if you can. Don't waste your money. Definitely go to class because he takes roll on days not a lot of people show up and it counts for points. You also get a study sheet that will help for the exams.

Palermo is very passionate about his subject! His lectures are very long however his diction is sometimes hilarious and very sarcastic. Four responses are required total and they are due after discussing chapters in the book. There's two midterms and 1 book along with 4 other chapter books to buy for this class. Overall he's a fair teacher.

He is very passionate with his lectures, but all you do is sit there and listen so it gets really boring and long. You don't have to come to class, but he passes around a roll sheet for credit occasionally. There are 4 two-page response papers on textbooks and 3 tests that are a lot of writing, but he lets you bring notes to help.

Essay questions for tests. Not many papers. He was helpful but often goes off on rants and tangents, the lectures tend to be confusing.

Overall this class was pretty easy. You don't have to show up for class except the day before the test to get the study guide. Other than that 4 response papers and 3 tests plus final. I didn't do 2 response papers and did alright on tests, I got a B. Easy grader if he grades your paper and not the TA(seems snobby and is a know it all).

He's definitely a talker and I was always falling asleep during his lectures but you definitely don't have to show up to every class. One thing I didn't like was he had his TA grade our test and the TA was a tough grader. Other than that it was a pretty easy class. Only 3 blue book test and 4 response papers.

I took his class last semester but I really enjoyed his class, his lectures are long and he usually just rants but if you need help or want him to clarify something he will. There are 3 exams and for the last two you are able to use a cheat sheet which is really helpful. He didn't take role either.

Very passionate when he talks, but he does get off topic a lot. Tries to relate history to what is going on today which is pretty interesting. There are 4 response papers, 2 midterms, and a final and those are the only thing that go in the grade book. He gives a study guide ahead of time and occasionally lets you use a sheet of note on the test.

I don't quite understand all the negative feedback for Palermo. Yeah is pretty liberal but he doesn't force you to conform to his views while writing. I would take him again for sure.

He is a very entertaining professor. Tends to go on rants that don't have anything to do with the lecture. His study guides has a lot of terms on them and he doesn't go over half of them. I basically wikipedia'd everything. Tests are essays. You won't learn much, but it's an easy A.

He's really enthusiastic when lecturing. Kind of gets off topic so sometimes parts of the lecture feels pointless. Its cool that he relates the history back to present time but he can get repetitive about it. Gave us a lot of terms to remember but only gave us 5 and we had to choose 2 essay questions. After the first exam you get to use notes.
