Comment:

The single greatest professor I have had at HWS. She is thoughtful and encourages the highest level of thinking about the subject. This means some will dislike her because you need to think in her class and cannot make things up, or she will tear you apart. However, if you read the books and pay attention you will learn so much.

One of the most interesting professors at HWS. Always takes it to the next level and made my other political courses feel superficial. Makes you feel like thought and theory matters by examining its applications and logical conclusions. My courses with her were the best of college... almost worth the 40 grand in debt I'm in now. almost.

Professor Dean is an awesome professor. She is tough no doubt and many of the comments are true. However, Professor Dean is a fair professor as long s yu do your work and PARTICIPATE. She loves participation and it will definitely boost your grade. Also, if she gives you the option to negotiate the syllabus--take it.

Professor Dean is a brilliant political theorist. However, her class should be called "The Political Theories of Jodi Dean". She is incredibly smart - yet teaches her class with a strong bias. She is fair but tough and strict with attendance. If I had to pick 5 people to be on my side in a bar fight - Jodi Dean would be one of them. No doubt.

Jodi Dean is a professor that personalizes her teaching. She makes rules, such as no late papers, then when one of her favorites comes to her. .extends her deadline with no penalty. Will hate a student and then cut her out with no help for personal not academic reasons. Immature and bossy. Good teacher if you are one of the chosen ones.

I've learned such an exorbinate amount from her that I really feel i'm a better person for it. The workload is hard, but listening to her in class will make everything clear. for those who think she is impossbile, her Tests have 130 points and their out of 100. One of the best i've ever had, no question. Always willing to help.

For the serious student only! Very rewarding if you are willing to digest and take time with classic texts. Professor Dean rewards showing up, thoughtful comments and lack of BS/excuses. Yeah, some critical comments of Dean have some truth, but that shouldn't effect your experience if you seek a challenge, ultra smart professor, and great writing.

Like everyone on campus, I was afraid to take a Dean class. But I'm happy I did, she is by far one of the best professors I have ever had. She challenges everyone, no matter their pol. beliefs, to think & argue. Her classes revolve around discussion & she is NOT easy, but she is WORTHWHILE. Amazing.

She is the best professor in the HWS Poli Sci department, the most published, and probably the most concerned with her feild of study. She is hard don't get me wrong but why go to college to take bird courses, take a risk you might like it, I sure did. She is a brilliant woman!

Jodi Dean is not a good professor and is not a good person. She is far too concerned with her image and preaching her own beliefs to care and offer compassion to her students. If a student slipped and broke their neck on their way to take her test all she'd have to say is "there's nothing I can do."
