All Shaanan does for an hour and 15 min is talk. He reads off a paper for the whole class. You're graded off 3 exams, all of which are 50 multiple choice. He assigns readings, but his lectures cover them for the most part. I read the books for the first exam and did worse than when I didn't read, so it's up to you if you want to or not.

At first, I thought that he was a little monotoned, but I fell in love with the topic after learning how passionate he is about teaching. I would take all of his classes if I could. He is very nice and wants everyone to do well. He curves the tests if everyone does poorly and then reteaches the topic. All tests are multiple choice and are easy!

Took this class to complete history requirement. Shaanan's lectures are pretty boring and you should take notes but skipping class won't hurt you too bad. Midterm exam focuses on the people he talks about in class more than the concepts. 2 Exams and 1 Term Paper. Overall easy class

Take as many notes as you can during class. His notes are directly from the main reading of the course, so if you take notes, you don't need to read the book. But the outside articles he asks to read are important, but if you just know the people and what they say, you'll be fine.

Very difficult to keep focus as he is very monotone, he simply speaks and writes minimal things on the board. The text book is a must have, as are his additional readings. His tests are mad hard and he does not scale. ever. He does have a different grading pattern with lower grades earning higher letters, but most of my class still averaged LowCs

I took him as far back as 1999. I found him to be an extremely good professor. I totally understood the subject material and he was always willing to clarify when necessary. I am glad to know he still teaches at Bryant. He is an awesome man!

His lectures are clear and concise. I recommend looking at the chapter before the lecture and then you understand everything he is talking about. His class is composed of 3 tests and that's it. Study and it is an easy B, study harder for the A. Also has a good sense of humor.

Best professor ever. He makes his classes very interesting. You donĂ¢€™t need book for test, I recommend not buying it because you will only use it for some exercises that are not mandatory. You will do great if you pay attantion to his lectures. Unquestionably the best economics teacher.

Smart man who really knows what he's talking about. Not much use for the book, he goes over everything you need to know in class in detail. Very helpful with understanding material.

Shaanan is an interesting British man. Lectures are painfully boring, but he does his best to make macro interesting. Two tests and a final, and no homework at all. I'd probably take him again.

Good teacher, took him for Micro and now I have him for Macro. Your grade is made up of 3 tests so you don't have to do much work. Reading the book will definitely get you a higher grade but if you just take notes in class you will still get at least a B.

Good professor, wouldnt hesitate to take him again. The books are a complete waste of money as the lectures cover everything that is needed for the three exams. Multiple choice on the exam can be ambigous at times, however exam essays are clear but require complete knowledge of the subject. Very interesting and fair class given the course level.

He's a good teacher and every test is from class notes. I think its a boring subject. He has an accent, but it puts me to sleep. I find it difficult, but as long as you pay attention and take notes, you'll be fine. Overall, a nice guy. One of the better ECO teachers.

Hands down, best Econ Prof. at Bryant. He manages to make a dull subject somewhat interesting. Tests are straight from the lecture, but I'd reccommend that you still buy the book because it is used occasionally in class. Also, try to ask him where he is from -- he is constantly asked but refuses to answer. He has a pretty bad-ass accent.

Shaanan is a really good guy and he cares about his students. Pay attention in class, and take notes on whatever he puts on the board..that is whats on the tests. Don't buy the textbook. Class can be boring, but its economics, its gonna suck either way. He tries to make sure things are clear, and he is helpful when you have questions. Take Shaanan!
