Joshua is the most fabulous teacher ever to breathe. He is to teaching philsophy what Mirko "Cro-Cop" Filipović is to the mixed martial arts. It doesn't hurt that he so closely resembles a younger, more attractive Hugh Grant. His derriere is such that one is inspired to write poems about it.

Unless you already have taken stats and another philosophy class, this GEC is not for you. While some concepts are clear and he's a fun natured lecturer, for the most part he is not clear about the majority of the lessons, especially the fallacies and written assignments. To top it all off, there are TAs gradaing the course arbitrarily.

Yes, he talks about the green bay packers and nascar, but he does it to break up the monotony of the material. josh is really a fabulous teacher. I hated the prospect of having to take this class orginially, but by the end i was actually looking forward to going. take his classes!

incredibly funny so class is always enjoyable, which is good because the class material can be really dry. I rarely used the textbook because the exams are based more off of what you learn in class. And you have to go to class if want to pass.

IF he would have discussed the class material as much as he discussed the green bay packers he would have been a good professor. Also, who goes to class to hear about NASCAR? In fact, who goes to any type of secondary education who cares about NASCAR? Answer: Josh Smith.

Super great guy, keeps class lively and interesting. The only problem is that there's a really steep learning curve. the first midterm is really easy, but the second is darn near impossible, mainly because there's just too many formulae to deal with on the second. that's really the only complaint i have with Mr. Smith, though; he's a great teacher.

I took this class to fufill a math credit so I wasn't expecting much, but Josh is great! I learned a lot and class went by pretty fast. You have to open the book but homework is optional. There are a few quizes but he'll let you make them up if you miss a day.

even though 2/3 of the class time is spent going off on tangents I couldn’t help but attend, he’s just so enjoyable, I’ve never seen a teacher relate so well to students, class itself wasn’t so great but Josh is such and intriguing guy I’d take it again, not recommended for complete idiots you do have to read the book and study

An extremely funny and approachable guy. He often goes off on tangents about random stuff like the Green Bay Packers or his family or Wisconsin or whatever, which can be annoying if you want him to stick to the topic at hand. But most times it just makes going to class a real treat. But yeah, highly recommend taking a class with him.
