She is very fair at grading, and she takes her time to be clear about all of the aspects of the issue. There were times when the work load seemed heavy, but other times she gave us almost TOO MUCH time to work on things. She's a great teacher.

I don't know what you all are complaining about the work load for. I took her class during the summer of 2005 (which is a faster pace) and I still had time for my social life. And I got an A. If you want a good grade put in the effort. If you need help she's more than willing to help you. You just have to want it.

Wow, i thought this was an intro clas...yea right! Not with Jopy SLack. She treated us as if we were in a 4000 level class. ENTIRELY too much of a workload. EXTREMELY hard grader, and is NOT lenient on anything at all! AVOID SLACK!

Joy is a good instructor because she goes over everything in the class. She is a straightforward teacher and if you slack she is going to punish you for it. The writing topics were very interesting and writing the papers was not difficult at all. One assignment opened up a new perspective on the American grading system.

She'll make you work for your grade! Her class is a big wakeup call for freshmen, but at the end of the day you have an appreciation for what you have learned. She is a rules girl, so by all means never miss a deadline because she won't cut you slack! A 'C+' feels like an 'A' at the end of the year!
