I took the honors section for this course, and she is one of my absolute favorite professors. I can't express how great the atmosphere in this class was, and how close everyone became. I hated public speaking, but I feel more comfortable with it now. She is hilarious and the nicest professor I've ever had. You're missing out if you don't take her!

Joyce is hilarious but probably should not be teaching. Classes are full of off topic rambling, and she did not hand back graded assignments, so it was hard to know what she expected. We did not do half the assignments she said she would assign. Nice lady, but if you want to learn something from a class I would not recommend.

Joyce is one of the most compassionate and down to earth professors I have ever met - and she's funny as hell too! She cares about each and every student, and calls you by your first name because she makes the effort to memorize them. I learned so much from her. Take her class if you have the chance. It's the most wonderful experience.

Prof Fernandes is wonderful! If you need Public Speaking take it with her. Handful of speeches but they're easy and she grades very fairly. Prepare to spend more time casually chatting than presenting. Very caring and thoughtful of her students.

Joyce is one of the most genuine and caring people I have ever met. She is such a sweetheart and will do everything and anything in her power to make you feel comfortable in her class. She is so down to earth and so easy to talk to. I feel bad for whoever has not met Joyce because she is amazing. Just show up and put effort and she will love you!!!

Easy class! Makes topics for student speeches flexible. She is nonjudgmental after you make your speech. Just show up and do your speeches basically, on the days they're due. She's very nice and wants you to succeed.

Joyce makes it seem so easy to pass her class in the beginning. She talks way too much about irrelevant subjects and personal life. She will shock you when you receive a C at the end when you thought the whole semester you were at least an A-

Honestly,Joyce the most genuine teacher I've ever had. Communications 101 is just about that, connecting, communicating. By the end of the class, you'll miss everyone! Took COM101 as an honors class, two extra assignments that do require more work,but it's all worth it. You get to go to the film studio! Highly recommend this class!

I was so nervous to take this class ( I have put it off so many time!) I am so happy I took this class with Prof. Fernandes. She made public speaking fun and I felt very comfortable presenting my speeches, You only do four speeches 4-7 minutes long. Best class ever and best professor!!!!!

I LOVE PROFESSOR FERNANDES! I can not say enough good things about her. She makes the class positive and enjoyable. I am going to take another class of hers just so I can have her as a professor again. No matter what speech you give, she will always find a way to relate to it. I recommend her to everyone.

Professor Fernandes is the most amazing teacher ever! She cares so much about each of her students! Yes you do have to get in front of a class and prepare and give a speech but she makes you feel so comftorable!I absolutely loved her and would rec. her for everyone to take! Took a hybrid class with her. Half online 1 1/2 hours in class. Without a doubt a must take teacher. I was nervous to present speeches but she makes you feel so comfortable that you cannot fail. Four presentations in class. I wish she taught more classes because I would take them.
