On the Canvas side of things for this museum internship, Joyce was great: she grades the next day, all assignments relate to your internship (though sometimes the assignments didn't relate to the readings, I would not require the book for class), and she even visited the museum during my shift, it was very nice of her! Great experience, do it!

Joyce is awesome! I've taken two classes with her now and both experiences were awesome. If you are curious about Anthropology in the slightest, she'll make you an Anth major/minor instantly. She cares about her students a lot too. Always asks our opinions and ensures equality in group projects.

Great class. Very well organized with a mixture of powerpoints and videos. Discussion forums are great especially for quieter students. Exams were multiple choice (not my ideal) but they were not tricky. Just be sure to do ALL assigned readings. Dr. Hammond is very nice and helpful; one of the the best Anth. professors. Glad I took this class!

Great Professor! Lots of work, but very interesting. She gives lots of feedback on papers which is AWESOME! She'll also print out extra info for your project or reading and that is also very helpful. She will correct your grammar on your papers, but don't feel bad, just know she is doing it to help you out! I would definitely take her again!

dont show up for class! its pointless and a waste of time. you dont even have to read the textbook, just show up for tests and pick the answer that SOUNDS right (i hadn't shown up for class once since the test before and started reading the book the night before and got a B on the test). Discussion groups can be good if you're in a talkative group

Pretty dissapointed in this class. Teacher wasnt interesting to me. Couldnt stand to listen to her talk. Went over things way too slowly. I was always waiting for her to get to the point, and she never seemed to get there. Didnt see it necessary to take notes. Alot of common sense concepts. I never went to class just read the textbook and was fine.

The class is pretty easy as long as you read the anthro book. The ethnological essays book is bs but parts of it are on the exams so you might want to skim it before tests. Overall the class is pretty easy but Hammond's lectures can be boring. I recommend going to the exam reviews hosted by the TA, they help.

Hammond knows her stuff but there will be many extra assignments as part of the class. Lots of busy work involved in the discussion groups. Friendly lady, but her class definitely put me to sleep often. Be prepared to take LOTS of notes!

This class was boring at times, and Hammond could have somewhat of a cold, mechanical lecture style but her help and guidance outside of class was absolutely wonderful! She's big on writing which can make her class more difficult than others but she fully recognizes and appreciates students putting in their best effort. Great for sex and gender!

Lectures could be boring, the textbook was impossibly boring, and the discussion groups were time consuming. However, I felt the class was well worth it if you put some time into it, and I loved my discussion group!!! I think everyone should take it, if for no other reason because it is good to know about other cultures!

Amazing lady. Really organized and very nice. The class was interesting in itself so that helped. Very easy tests if you read text- lectures are somewhat boring but outside discussion groups are very fun and entertaining. Great class, great professor!

Dr. Hammond is really a fabulous professor! Her lecture is easy to understand those stuff we study about. Good combination of lecture, video, and music. I recommend you to take any of her class.
