Profe was amazing. He enlightened me in who I am as a Chicana, revisionist history, and helped me find my true "shaggy" while being at TLU. He is now retired and was one of the best professors TLU ever had. (On a side note, he was in the English department at TLU.)

I took three of his courses. His classes require you to read and discuss in class, but they aren't hard either. He makes guidelines clear from day one. If you think the point of his classes is to discriminate, then you have missed the point. By the end of my time at TLU, he became a true friend and mentor. I would recommend his classes to anyone.

This is one angry dude. He can't seem to escape from a perceived life of discrimination. I got tired of hearing but didn't dare say anything. If you had your own thoughts they were wrong before they got out of your mouth. Best to keep quiet or give it back to him in rote. The one class I missed dropped me to a B. I was in the hospital.

Don't disagree. Always agree with his views. Don't think. Find out what he thinks and go that way. A narrow minded guy that was obviously pushed around 50 yrs ago. Teach us how it was, but make sure that YOU realize that era is over. Was still carrying 30 yr old grudges.

A challenging, thought-provoking teacher. His classes are full of discussion, and he helps you become more articulate and think more critically about what you read. Intensive writing.

He is actually a really good professor to the students that actually care about their grades and participate in class. You have to have an opininion to succeed in his class, whether it agrees with his or not. You just have to be willing to talk otherwise your grade is going to suck. Oh, and sit in the front row.

Prof. Rodriguez is simply the best professor that I have ever had PERIOD. He does have a very unique teaching style (gift?) that allows him to methodically deconstruct our comfortable lives and the world we live in. I think the reverse discrimination allegations are unfounded but not surprising. The best policy is to keep an open mind and heart!

His greatest gift is his commitment to the students--very challenging and enriching. He teaches students how to reason and provide examples for their thinking, using his own lived experiences and in turn conclusions for students to develop their own. If you can take a stand and defend yourself-which is what life is about-you will do great.

I took JuanRo several times during my TLC days. Funny how 15 years later he's still ticking people off. The best thing about his classes is watching him burst people's white middle class bubbles, and I'm a white middle classer all the way. Enjoy the provocation.

reverse racism right here. He loves stirring up trouble at school on how mean the white kids are. Its akward being in his class with him being like that. I feel bad for him, and the kids that have to take him

Dr. Rodriguez, probably the worst professor I have had at TLU. Not very helpful or understanding. If you are not Mexican American don't take his class! Most of the materials he teaches over seem very irrelevant.

I have to agree with some of the others here about his views towards the "Euro-American". There are times that you will feel what it is like to be discriminated against. Got stuck somewhere in the 70's with the chicano movement!!Does have great stories, but you never know what he wants on a test and it is never enough once you somewhat figureit out
