Its hard to read others post about how terrible she is. She expects us to provide quality work. She holds us to a level that a college/university should hold us to... You can read all of these posts but you never know until you take Mrs. Belts class.

The worst professor probably at Oswego... talks about subjects she clearly does not know about often, to only become defensive and rude when it is clear her intellect is questioned.

She's a nice professor but her class wasn't as interesting as it sounded. She's a harsh grader, a lot of students felt like their papers deserve an A but she gave a B. Don't bother arguing with her about stuff like that. I don't think I'd take another class with her again.

Comment:

Had her for an AM Gen Ed class. She informed us that she wasn't going to teach us, that we were going to teach ourselves by class discussion and reading the book. Tests are easy and if you participate in class discussion, you'll get a C. The final group project was vague and graded harshly. Kiss her butt and don't challenge her intelligence for B-.

Comment:

The class time itself is painless, she requires a lot of interaction and there is bountiful discussion. Several short papers, a big and time consuming group project at the end of the semester, and she's a stickler on grammar and citations. Only taking it to complete my GenEds world awareness, otherwise would not recommend.

The class itself is pretty easy, but she is a fairly tough grader, so make sure to be extra thorough with your assignments. She doesn't use angel which is a mild annoyance. I was in the B, B+ range on most of my assignments, so I was shocked when I received a C+ for a final grade.

She's not easy. If you get a B on your paper, look at it like an A. But if you keep a respectful tone, and do assignments early so as to ask for her to make corrections, you're golden. Her final is easy as long as you keep up on assignments, and do the book reading, she'll pop quiz you in class if she finds out you're not reading.

Awful lady, she thinks shes so intelligent. She teaches the class like it is a highschool, caps/hats are not allowed to be worn, its college, are you serious? go and teach highschool, her final is absolutely horrible, she makes the students make the questions and some students make the questions ridiculously hard. DO NOT TAKE HER COURSE!

Mrs. Belt is a very nice lady who is always willing to help you out with whatever you need school raleated or not. There is work and she is very picky on what she wants and how she wants it done. But i enjoyed the class

She needs to keep her gender issues out of the classroom. If you are female your golden. If you are a baby she will baby you. If you have an opinion, keep it to yourself and you will be fine. If you are a threat to her intellect or can succeed with out her help you're done. Kiss butt, ask for help, and act impressed with her and you will do great.

I took tech and civ as well as tech writing with mrs belt. She is quite possibly the best teacher in the tech department. Really helpful for advisement isues too, even if you're not her advisee. She's like the mom of the tech department.

Everyone should be REQUIRED to take this class. She is knowledgable, always willing to help, and a great advisor. She is picky on assignments but clarity and correctness are what will get and help you keep a job so get used to it and don't half-ass anything. Will review assignments with you before due dates.
