Overall a pretty good prof. Powerpoint presentations and course materials leave something to be desired, but seems fairly knowledgeable about urban planning. She's very nice and approachable.

many of the same crits as others. nice but super disorganized, inconsistent and not very helpful. 'feast rather than fast food' teaching style means lectures that last the ENTIRE CLASS. downplays difficulty of class/assignments tests. ask her to be VERY clear with what she wants. good luck, a lot of her courses are required.

Disorganized, expects a lot from you (time-consuming projects, assignments), but fails to teach almost anything. Very very boring. Burnt out

Really nice and helpful. She is very vague though and I would have rather had tests that measured your ability to understand and not your ability to memorize theories. Very knowledgeable in the field of Urban and Inner City studies, she could provide more direction and give more opinion given her amount of field experience. Read the big green book!

Kind and helpful. If you do not understand, she will practically walk you through it. Lots of reading from multiple areas and articles. It is an intro class, so its going to be a range of subjects not in depth. LOTS of mini assignments. Great teacher!

Extremely nice and approachable. Very vague. Avoided directly answering questions. Was unsuccessful in getting her knowledge of program planning across to students. As long as you follow the assignment description in the course outline and are good at improvising you should do fine.

For someone with a degree in planning, she certainly is the most unorganized professor that I have. She's not a bad person, kind actually, just disoriented, subtly self-centered and reiterates everything from the text book and her. Needless to say I have not learned a single thring from this woman yet. Sorry.

Judith is one of the few professors of IDS at UofW who has a strong background in economics. If you take IDS seriously, I recommend her, because nowhere else at our university will you find such quality instruction in an admitedly hated but nonetheless extremely important aspect of the discipline.

She's the nicest person you will ever meet, but is so disorganized and random that you'll never follow her lessons or understand what she's asking for on assignments or tests.

Do not take a class with this prof if you value quality teaching. Quantity she can do, but good luck following her train of thought! I did well in the class, but learned nothing.I have never had such a disorganized prof. The students often had to suggest TO HER how she should organize.

I could never recommend Judith to anyone who has a sincere interest in int'l dev. She is so scattered and has such disorganized lectures that I feel like I learned absolutely nothing. She has poor marking strategies and her outlines are confusing. Nice lady, but really poor prof.

Judith has expansive knowledge on the subjects she teaches, and makes a concerted effort to maintain a participatory and respectful classroom. Her insights into economic processes, for instance, are elucidating; I found them to be very relevant to other areas within the social sciences. good prof!

SCATTERED, to say the least. Just picture the brilliant, scattered, disorganized stereotypical female prof and there you have it. She means well but, goodness, could you at least pretend to be somewhat intelligible. Can't believe she's the dept. head.

A nice lady with good intentions when it comes to facilitating a "seminar" class, but her explanations of the MANY articles didn't really clarify them for me. Student led presentations were by far the most engaging aspect to this class.

Judith drives me insane. She's a wonderful woman, but if you want to learn something beyond the idea that community is good, or if you want to get straight answers for important things (involving marks or assignments), avoid at all costs.
