Worst professor I've ever had. Gives way too much reading. Requires a 15 page paper at the end where you have to read hundreds of pages of handwritten letters in cursive that are poorly copied. Either lectures the whole time or shows a film that teaches you nothing. Too much work for an elective class.

This class is not worth taking. Please stay away. I did not learn much from taking this course. I really wish I could receive a refund for wasting my time.

this prof is definitely not worth the class at all. the whole class she just rambles on and you just have to write everything down - no ppt or anything. she goes the whole hour every time. her exams are five random topics she talked about and you have to write an essay on all of them. she is SUPER specific and you have to word everything perfect.

This class is more trouble than its worth to get a B. She requires loads of texts but only the novels are necessary. She used a format (Rompolla) that nobody (even the Librarians) are familiar with. Group projects are graded harshly based on whether or not you followed directions, not on content. 90% sure she doesnt even bother grading the final

Do not take this class . Even excellent students perform poorly in this class. She will claim your answer is incorrect just because it is not written the assigned books (which are written by her). Also uses a format no other professor seems to use.

This is probably the worst class I've ever taken. All she does is lecture and they are incredibly boring. She says no laptops but you can use them as long as she thinks you are taking notes. She is a very hard grader and doesn't understand that she is teaching an elective and that nobody cares. Ask for open note final and a study guide.

all she does is lecture and its so boring and hard to know whats actually important. she is very passionate about womens history. only two tests, a midterm and a final, one in class essay on a super long boring book, and one project which you can get a good grade on, but takes forever and doesnt count for much

Litoff is an extremely tough grader. She nitpicks every essay, test, quiz, etc. She assigns a lot of reading and requires numerous texts. When Litoff assigns something, she looks for specifics, which she never discusses. You have to go to her office hours to figure out what she truly wants. If students show they care she will allow rewritesredos.

Comment:
Judy Litoff is smug, condescending, and quite unreasonable. Don't speak up in class unless you are 100% sure your comments are correct, well thought-out, and you have a source at the ready to justify yourself. Otherwise she will take a solid minute to tear you a new one in front of the class. Awful. However, she REALLY knows her history.

Lot of required texts. 2 tests- Midterm and Final and 2 big group projects. Really tough grader. She's nice though and when she does lecture they're very interesting. I got a B which I think she gives to everyone that isn't in honors or makes the class their life. If you like history you'll like the class and vice versa.

Worst teacher at Bryant. Unhelpful, condescending comments left on papers and projects, rude email berating our group project, the harshest grader ive ever had. Great example of a tenured teacher who doesn't care about her students. Impossible to get an A, nearly impossible to get a B. She is a GPA killer with excessive amount of work. Avoid her.

Honestly don't understand why people say such negative things about her. She is extremely nice, knowledgeable, and passionate about what she does. If you're lazy and expect to do well by doing nothing then you won't do well but if you do the work and follow directions it's not hard to do well. Definitely recommend if you're willing to do the work

Extremely hard to get good grades. I usually get A's on my essays and have never gotten a C before in my life until this class. Even if you try to use the feedback given on your essays she will find another way to take points off. Definitely would not recommend.
