Julie is an amazing teacher! She takes her time to explain every topic. Attendance is mandatory as she does lots of notes on the board. Homework and tests were fairly easy and she provided lots of feedback if you were wrong.

If you go to class you will do fine. She talks very low and monotone, but genuinely a good prof. Gives practice for every section which is very helpful, and ALOT of feed back on midterms explaining every little reason why you lost a mark, and clearly explaining how you can improve.

She is a VERY quiet slow speaker. Her notes are not online but there's some readings which i found didn't help at all. I took this course with a few friends and 2 dropped it a month in and left me wishing i had. This course made me change my linguistics minor, i found it very confusing and hate how the notes were just written on the chalkboard.

My favorite prof and class at MUN! A lot of people seemed to hate her or skip, but if you are someone who genuinely enjoys and understands linguistics (not just in it cause you think speech pathology is lucrative), you will really appreciate her. She is enthusiastic in her own timid way and extremely kind. Can come off as strict if you don't work.

I liked this prof. Her course was neatly organized, and the text book was EXCELLENT. We were given several assignments which contributed to a large portion of the overall grade. The assignments were useful for learning the material. Interesting course overall, and the prof is very enthusiastic (seems like she really likes the topics covered).

I wasn't overly impressed by the prof, i liked the course in general. She talks low so sitting close to the front is a good idea. I found that once you "got the hang" of how to do the stuff its easy..kind of like math in the sense that once you can add you can change the numbers and still do it haha

Speaks a little low, but sit up front and it's not a problem. Lectures were interesting and the material was well-organized. It helps if you do the reading before going to class. I didn't have any problems asking for help when I needed it. She had some interesting anecdotes, too, seems like a neat person!

Sometimes you just wonder how some people ended up as a professor. You'd be well advised to steer clear of any course taught by Dr. Brittain.

Without a doubt, one of the best in the department. Her teaching style is lucid, her tests are fair, and her expectations are very clear. Is authoritative without talking down to students, and is very accessible. Cares about her students. Recommended without reservation.

She speaks too low, you can't hear a word she says. She doesn't answer your questions, and I don't think she cracked a smile the whole semester!

#1.No one can hear her. Make sure you sit up front. she makes the most simplest things hard to understand. I was even afraid to ask her anything. She lacks in social skills and answers questions very vaguely or refers to the text book.

she does not know how to explain things and her lectures are not helpful. She makes simple things complicated. It is hard to know what to expect on her tests, there are sometimes surprises. I would recommend this course, but with a different prof.

This woman is absolutely insane. Don't ask for help, you might upset her and she will mark you accordingly. She cannot teach, her handouts are useless, she speaks too quietly, and is snobby and pretenious. A NIGHTMARE OF A PROF!
