She gives way too many papers compared to other FYS's. The whole entire class consists of her lecturing about things that seem pointless. One time we spent over thirty minutes talking about capitalization. Thinking she will give you an A? Not a chance. There were writing majors in my class that were fantastic writers that didn't get A's. Avoid!!!!!

Professor is knowledgeable but not good at managing class time. She will go off on one topic and expect us to know all the information that she failed to communicate. She fails to discuss major points from the text and tests them heavily. Essay topics are extremely broad and she expects you to answer in the way she would answer it. Don't take it.

Please do not take this professor. She is extremely off topic most of the time and YOU suffer for it. I wish I would have listened to the other people on this website before I brushed their comments off, but I didn't and am now suffering.

She literally does not write anything down.. She is pretty knowledgable but goes off on topics that have nothing to do with what will be on the test. You are going to have to read the book to pass. Also good luck trying to get above a B on a formal paper.

Not a bad person but as a professor she spends most of the class lecturing about one topic and not touching much on other so it's up to you to read and study for the tests. There's a 1-2 page essay like once a week for each chapter out of the textbook. 2 4-5 page papers on ridiculously long books and 3 tests.

Avoid at all costs. Terrible professor. Stays on one slide the entire class, and talks gibberish for an hour. Essays and tests have nothing to do with material talked about in class. All you are doing for this class is memorizing a text book. She is a very rude person, and judgemental. Thinks you took this class because of interest not requirment

"that's absolutely fine". Please don't take this professor at all costs. Her tests have nothing to do with class discussions. The entire class was based on memorizing the textbook and regurgitating it.

Gibert loves writing. She assigns 3 papers that are 6 pages long and 2 page paper before every test you take. She says it helps you study, but really it just gets in the way. Also, her tests involve an essay too which she grades like you had weeks to do and not 50 minutes. Information is not hard but you write a lot.

I've been an A student throughout college took this class because it is mandatory. Teacher is very rude unless she knows you personally or you're very into content. Essay topics are very broad and wonders why essay isn't clear cut. very low good grades in class. Tests are ok if you understand what you read in book on your own Too much for 100 level

DO NOT TAKE THIS PROFESSOR. She is rude and biased towards other lifestyles. I've always been an A student, and for a gen-ed class like this, I wouldn't expect anything less. She is extremely inconsistent with her grading and does not follow a set rubric. Even if she says you did well on your paper, she will still give a poor grade.

This lady is a joke. Extremely rude and not nice whatsoever. She acts like everyone is taking her class because they have a general interest in the subject, and I did at first, but she made it impossible. Only teaches for about 10 minutes, the rest is completely up to you to teach yourself everything. Avoid this person, she's absolutely awful.

She's a nice woman.The class was rather boring with many papers to do.Avoid if possible.I turned in all my papers with high grades and missed one and that put me in danger of failing. She makes the material very boring and her paper assignments are very vague,then she wonders why your paper is all over the place. I would not recommend this class.

I should say 1st off im a history major so I like this stuff..u need to use the txtbook. Class is kinda boring but its cause shes trying to make sure everyone is caught up. She is a very easy grader for sure and in general a very nice person, just dont get caught on ur cell.

If you don't have a general interest in history the class might be somewhat boring to you but she is a pretty good teacher all in all. Tests are essays so as long as you've been in class and have taken notes you should be fine. Quizzes are super easy based off of previous classes and not very detailed questions. Good teacher I'd recommend her
